Exclamation Question about Radar Detectors

ok i have a question about radar detector. i was wondering which is the best and has anyone ever heard of hiding the detector.? because where i live its illegal to have the detector in use, and we get pulled over for having something hanging in the window. so i was wondering if anyone had any pics about a custom hide job they did or if anyone knows where i should hide it so that it will still be able to work properly. and of which one is best.

Thanks again.

Your best bet is to go custom installed. Escort makes 3 different models that are installed by professionals, oftentimes so cleanly that you'd never know it's there unless you knew what to look for. They're on the very pricy side though, but they're definitley the way to go for discreet use.

One thing you should be aware of is they have radar detector detectors. I have a friend who's an OPP and he told me in his region they have two unmarked cars that sit on the highway for this sole purpose and they catch a lot of people.

In Ontario it's a $600 fine and 6 points. That 6 points puts you in a high risk group especially if you have other points and your insurance sky rockets for several years. They either get you to run it over or take it from you.

I would imagine the RCMP do the same thing on the highways in Manitoba. It's the risk you take I guess. I'd be so paranoid of passing any parked car along the highway for fear it could be one of them. I think you'd want something that could be easily unpluged too.

I just wish we were able to have them like Alberta does.

detecting...

Note that most modern designs (of which V1 still has the best/most info for the driver) are shielded to contain the emissions that the VG2 radar detector detector detects!

Most also offer remote mounting options.

But if you want to KNOW what's happening, and not just get a beep, go V1.

And you'll need some laser jamming or you'll get lasered no matter which brand you own!

Humm, very interesting! We are so out of the picture with these things. Damn, we can't even order them online cuz they just won't ship to Canada. I've tried and no go on that.

I've got the V1 with the hidden display module, and it's worked like a charm thus far. Saved my butt on numerous occasions.

Valentine one is the only way in my book. I've had one on my windshield for 15 years or so and have had two tickets (both when I was on the phone and the volume was muted ). I've seen BMW owners disassemble the unit and mount it in the headliner. This defeats half the purpose of the V1 since you lose rear vision to radar but it keeps it away from prying eyes. This will likely defeat the shielding that the case provides.

Bummer that the cops are such nazi's about speeders up there.

Several States allow the use of radar detectors so they don't need to be hidden although some don't allow the use of cords hanging down from the windshield or mirror. Radar jammers are illegal in certain States.

I would say it's everyone's responsibility to check their State Vehicle Codes to see the various allowances.

Rambit...if you really want one I can make the purchase and mail it to you. Only thing is, it won't do you any good being installed in your garage queen!

Don't believe this would not help MrMe because the unit would still be showing. Just the module would be hidden! I am also very happy with my (legal) Valentine!
