Mygig retrofit problems

After installing the Mygig in my 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee and getting the nav and all radio function to work, I installed an aftermarket amp to replace the factory amp thinking this fix my sound problems. I was wrong. The sound now stays at a constant level. From what I can gather the mygig knows what vehicle it is in and it sends volume output accordingly. This is why the mygig will work in factory non-amplified systems and not factory amplified systems. The only solution I see is some type of interface. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't know if this will answer your specific questions, but it's worth the read - MyGIG in MyRIG - 2006 Jeep SRT8 installation!! Update and photo.

ResumeSpeed did this to his 06 GC SRT8 so it is doable. He doesn't have it anymore, but I would expect he'll be chiming in on this later. Good luck!

I think the volume control is controlled over the canbus. Is this correct? If so you would need to convert the high speed canbus signal to a line signal that the amp can see as different volumes. I think no one will create this device. You may want to scratch the amp idea and run the mygig directly to the speakers? I may be wrong about volume control over the canbus. Let us know what you find out!

So it will work in 1958 and later vehicles? Uh, yeah, right. I'll believe it when I see it.

So anyone with the Mygig will not have the option to add an aftermarket amp?

Can you get the Mygig Lockpick ? i believe this will add a audio and video out, therefore allowing you to add an aftermarket amp
