AAI-CHY Install Help Needed

Hi all,

I just picked up a 2006 300C and am having lots of fun with it. I wanted to add an aux audio input so I surfed the web and found you guys! Great forum...

I learned about the AAI-CHY here and bought one. I'm installing it now and am having difficulties. I've got the REC nav unit and have the AAI-CHY wired in with the VES input (not the SAT cable). Is this right? Do I need to disconnect the SAT?

What I see is a new tab for VES and I can choose CHP1 or CHP2. Is this where I should go to play my mp3 player (I assume aux 1 is CHP1)?

I'm getting no audio.

Thanks!

I don't have the AAI-CHY, I have the CHYX from peripheral, but I believe
it's made by PAC and is the same piece.

I believe to install this, you disconnect the satellite cable from
the radio, then plug in the 10-pin cable. You then plug in
the Satellite cable to the female end of the cable.

obviously you must already have the 22 pin cable connected to the
back of the radio, with the car harness plugged into it.

Be sure the 3pin connector is connected to the VES leads. This
will ensure that the adapter simulates the VES input.

Thanks for the reply. I've got it wired as you indicate. Do you know if I need to disconnect anything for the REC radio? The aai-chy instructions seem to have specific instructions for all the radios but the REC ;-) I am hoping that's because the REC is the default, but since I'm not getting audio...

I will test my 3.5 mm to RCA x 2 cable tomorrow to make sure it's not that. Any other thoughts welcome.

Are you sure you have it connected properly? You seem to be saying
you have it in the VES input, but also have the SAT cable?

Does your car have SIRIUS?

Which 3-pin connection are you using, SAT or VES? This is critical
because if you have the wrong one connected here, things will work, but
you won't have audio, which sounds like your problem.

I don't subscribe to Sirius (but the REC radio does have this as an option). I currently have the aai-chy 10 pin Satellite cable plugged into my radio and the original 10 pin Satellite cable plugged into it.

I have the 22 pin main power Plug (T-Harness) in between the factory radio and factory harness.

I have the AAI-CHY output plug (3 pin connector) connected to the the VES input on the 10 pin t-harness.

I have my mp3 player connected to input 1.

No audio. Do I need to disconnect anything else from the radio?

Thanks,

Mattdon

Sounds like you have it connected properly assuming you are have
the SAT feature and it is activated.

If the sirius isn't activated, try moving the 3 pin connector to SAT,
Then when you power up the radio, see if you get a SAT tab.
If you do then see what happens to the display (such as something
like "updating" or "receiving" channels).

Also, one thing to check is the input level on the CHY. Did you try
adjusting that? There a left/right input level for both of the
inputs.

I got on the phone today with PAC Audio tech support. To make a long story short I've unplugged the factory SAT cable from the back of the aai-chy cable and can now get audio from the VES screen, but only from the 2nd aux input.

I'm a little disappointed, but it works and I don't have a need for two inputs so I'm going to live with it.

Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

Glad you got it working.....I feel a little concern about both inputs not
working given that mine are, but I don't use both inputs either.....

enjoy your system!

Do any of you know if the AAI-CHY will work with the Mopar ipod interface on a REC?

I'm not sure about that one. I had the same question, but I didn't get an ipod.

I would probably contact PAC with that question, basically asking them
if you have a mopar ipod interface, can you use the AAI-CHY.

If you find an answer, let us know.
