'06 CD changer-can I install an iPod jack?

I have an '06 STR8 with the 6-cd changer deck, no NAV system, and of course no iPod jack on the deck for that model year. Can I install an IPod jack somehow with that head unit or do I need to replace it with a later model year head unit of after market head I want to retain the steering wheel controls if possible. Thanks and sorry for the noob question. BTW, I have an after market XM radio that I'm running through the tape deck now and it sounds terrible so I' may upgrade the head unit to one with XM which would also solve the iPod problem as a newer deck would likely come with an aux jack on the front.
