Talking Am i doing this right??????

Hey guys,

I have a 05 300c with the Boston acoustics stereo with the subwoofer. I am trying to install a system i had in my truck to add a little more mid range and deep bass. The amp i want to install is a 4 channels/1800 watts, i plan on changing out the stock 6x9's with 650watt sony's and add two subs to the other 2 channels. This amp requires rca in puts. I have looked at the what is available from the amp already in stalled in the car and can see that i will need to convert the wire to rca. I plan on taking the wires from the 6x9's and then running that to a rca converter, then run a rca splitter and split those to make 2 sets of rca's. (i know this sounds stupid but i want to save as much of the original system as possible in case i need to sell it.)

Does that make sense? or is there anything else i will need to complete this?

also i am wondering how i can get the remote wire form the OEM amp to also run to the new amp, and still stay on until the doors open and the system goes off.

That makes sense.

You keep talking about the factory amp but it sounds like you're trying to do a simple and easy install and don't want it to be a pain. If that is indeed the case, go with your original plan and tap into the wires from the 6x9s in the rear and run those to an RCA converter for the amp.

You can use fuse #35 in the rear fuse panel (next to the battery in the trunk) for the remote wire. It will cut on and off just as you want it to.

That's the setup I used before getting an aftermarket headunit and I was please with it. It also makes the install easy.

oem nav stereo plus subs and amp ?

I wasn't sure what the fuse # was for the remote so I did a search and found this link. NVmyC basically said the same thing I did and there's some more info in there. Check it out.

you have another option that didn't exist back then. That is to
use the PAC C2A-CHY. This is a plug and play option that will
give you 4 pre-outs and a remote turn on.

however, you are proceeding correctly, I'll just add on confirming
what's already been said. Fuse 35 for your remote wire, and tap
the rear speakers for the signal. That's how I started out before
I went further.......

I actually had heard of that and debated getting it. It was over $100 if I remember correctly. I went to an installer and asked him about it and he actually suggested tapping the rear speakers before spending money on the PAC harness.

I don't blame you. Good luck on the install. It shouldn't be bad at all. Post up if you have any questions.

Look at it this way, when I did my system none of these adapters was
available, so I had no choice. I used a $12 LOC in my system. I still
have it in there. However, I did a total amp bypass which required quite
a bit of cutting/splicing. I would have bought such a unit if I were
starting out.

So ask yourself, how much is your time worth? that PAC unit installs
in about 30 secs + plus the 2 minutes it takes to get the radio out,
you could have that part solved. Remember they did all of the research
so that their unit works with your cars CAN-BUS system, so that
you don't have to. Frankly, I don't think the price of that research is bad and if I were starting out, I would go that direction first. Like I said,
it gives you 2 pre-outs AND remote turn on that actually works with
your radio.

So even cost-wise, I still say it's a viable option that I wish was
available when I did my system.

And if you shop around, it shouldn't cost $100. In fact it looks as if he got it for much less.

This is the lazy way to do it. A better way would be to trace the wiring
from the bottom and tap in, or buy a mini fuse tap. But this should get
you going. the wire is stripped and wrapped around on blade
of the fuse. Again, a fuse tap would be much neater
and would allow you to attach via a female spade lug.
