Unhappy Double Din Navigation in 2009 300?

I just removed the stock CD Player of my 2009 300, made sure my Pioneer F700BT navigation unit fit into the existing bezel, ripped out the dash, wired up my, checked that it worked, slide it back, and.......it didn't fit. I tried moving all the wires and harness to the side but got nothing. It turns out the double din F700BT, fits in the dash bezel fine...but the rest of the body of the system is too tall. I can take pictures if you want. But what I am looking for is someone who can verify this problem and/or help me with a solution. It seems like this will be an issue for almost all double din installs in the 2009 300.

Another note:
On crutchfield.com, they say these units will fit previous models (like the 2008) but don't yet say what will work on 2009s yet. I also went to bestbuy and their installer said he would "air-saw an inch of the plastic behind the dash" so the unit will fit. This seems like a lot of work and permanent irreversible changes to the car which I hope are unnecessary since all I want to do is install this new CD/Navigation unit.

**Any and all help is appreciated because right now I'm stuck with a half open dash**

Thank you,
d.

I eagerly await the responses here on this topic as I am in the EXACT same dilemna. I just got a 2009 with stock system - I want to go with the AVIC series to incorporate BT, GPS, and my iPhone but I can find nothing on the web about 2009 stereo upgrade discussions. Maybe its too new?

The only thing I can think of is a single DIN with a pop-out screen, but I just dont like the look of those - seems so McGuyverish. Theres always that odd shaped JVC with the single DIN but 3.5 inch screen but it looks kinda odd also.

Please let me know what you find out by keeping your post updated as you get info. Thanks

have any pics? Also, is it actually the height (top to bottom) that doesnt fit? or is it the depth? what are the dimensions of the "space" available to slide the unit in?

I had to cut the white support trim. Had to eliminate the two humps on both sides and the lip that sticks up in the rear. That goes for the top and bottom.
