What monitor size to use in nav bezel

Hi All -

I'm in the very, very early phases of planning a carputer installation. I am currently selecting my hardware, etc. and have a question or two that I figured some folks on here may have figured out before already. First of all, most of the bezels I see are through the 07 model - mine's 08 - is there a problem fitting the nav bezel? Or is there an 08 version one can purchase?
Second, I read that the dimensions of the opening in the nav bezel are 8.25x5.125 - that would make for a diagonal size of 9.712" - almost the size of a 10" diagonal screen, though they seem to be almost non existent (at least the widescreen LCD's are). So basically my second question is what size monitor do you guys think would fit the best with the least amount of adjustments to the bezel. Is it just an 8" widescreen monitor?
Any input is appreciated!

Well, I'm not too knowledgeable on teh 2nd question, but on the first, the Mygig bezel is our "nav" bezel. Anyone who has an 07 or lower model that up'd to mygig has to get one or they get nasty space around it. Dimensions and whatnot I'm not knowledgable of.

Right, I have a MyGig headunit right now but it's not overly large - looking at the nav bezel because it eliminates the little pocket below the temperature dials and adds that space to the opening of the headunit for more of a 4:3 (probably?) monitor sized opening, as seen here:

Trying to get as big of a usable space as possible for a touchscreen. Just not sure if it *could* hold something bigger than an 8" screen (whether it be 4:3 or 16:9). Haven't really been able to find install pics from people who have used this bezel to install a touchscreen into their car - figured there would be more folks who had done it.

ive seen pics of 10 inch monitors in the bezel and they always had to either move the AC controls somewhere else or lose the AC vents at the top. I will be installing an 8 inch screen. if your planning on having any buttons or a cd rom to play cds or dvds then you gotta take into account the added space for thsoe as well.

The REC bezel is the biggest factory bezel. Anything else would have to be custom and you'd probably have to move your temp buttons to the center console.

is this what you're trying to do? I will be selling this setup soon (9" touchscreen molded to bezel) let me know if you're interested.
