Santa arrived early here with a new AE disc, and guess what? The elves somehow got the "in motion feature" to just go away.

The AE runs pretty fast, but the best part is the ability of the passenger to make changes to navigation, find a restaurant, etc while the car is on the highway.

Be good in the coming weeks and maybe you'll get one of these, instead of that nasty ole lump of coal.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My Aspen should have the latest version. It's at the dealers having a mirror replaced that was damaged in shipping and the Sat radio put in that should have been there so I can't check the disk right now. I'm in HI and there is no mapping. I'll be back on the Mainland this summer. So I should expect to have the passenger make inputs that could not normally be make unless I am doing 10 mph or less?

Smithvd1,

If your new Aspen has any version other than AE, I would insist the dealer provide one to you at no cost. When I got my car, it came with the AC disc, however the AD version had just been released. No voices were raised, but I was successful in getting the new version from Chrysler.

The AE version, the newest one out, still has the in-motion feature, so no one can input information once the vehicle is over 10 mph.

The hack of the in-motion feature is pretty cool though.

Got my Aspen back today

Check my nav version and it's AE. In-motion is not bypassed.

The in-motion is not going to change with anything that Chrysler does. They (Chrysler) believes they would be subject to liability if you were able to screw around with on-board navigation while you're driving. I still don't know why other car companies enable you to make these adjustments. It could be because many of them are voice activated.

Unless you're already able to install the feature, I am sure someone here on these boards could give you more information on the in-motion modification.

Grounded:

When I test drove the C, they brought a disc from the sales managers office, loaded it, and most certainly removed it when we were heading back into the showroom. I think they're on to that one.

Once the Nav DVD has been loaded the software for the system is installed (only the first time-same with the upgrade), so after you have the upgrad eyou can use a burned dvd with just the maps and poi's on it.
