Factory headunit doesn't work properly

I've got an 08 srt8 with the stock non navigation unit. Bought the car used last year and I've never been able to get the radio to come in or Sirius. I can get maybe 1 fm channel and that's on a good day. The CD player works great as well as the aux port. I also can't get Sirius. I tried signing up for it when I bought the car but Sirius wasn't able to connect to me vehicle. Tried a again a couple months ago and same thing I wasn't receiving their signal to activate it on my car.

So is this just an antenna issue or so thing that needs to be programmed? I'm also not able to get uconnect(but to be honest I wasn't sure if that came installed on every car).

I'm now looking at upgrading to the factory navigation unit, it's out of an 05. So I'm not sure if that would solve my problem or if I would most likely run into the same issue, let alone know if the 05 headunit would fit in my bezel?

I'll be standing by for answers lol

Not getting radio signals means there's a problem with either the antenna connection or the tuner section of the head unit.

If you go with a Navigation unit it may solve the problem if there's a tuner section problem. It will also get you access to the back side of the unit to check the antenna connection.

Sirius relies on a separate antenna/receiver module located behind the covering on the driver's side of the trunk. They have been known to fail. Even if you have the proper ID code, if the module has failed there will be no way to receive the signal.

The navigation double DIN unit won't fit your current bezel but navigation bezels are readily available. The old one comes out, the new one goes in, it's all done.

The 05 REC navigation radio is the wrong bus speed. It won't work in an 08.

Do you have the RER, REW, REP Radio? Check the radio software version.
Press “Menu” button on the radio.
Press “System Setup” touch screen soft key.
Press “System Information” touch screen soft key.
The software level is the number reported after the word “Application”.
If the radio software version is less than 2.402 there is a software update available(TSB 08-001-11 REV. A)

Not sure that this update will correct the all the issues your experiencing as I have to agree with MADDOG that the symptoms described sound like an antenna or head unit fault.
