HELP! RP4-CH11 to Pioneer AVH-2400BT

I don't understand at all.

I hooked the RP4 up wire for wire with the Pioneer AVH2400BT.

All I got was crackling speakers and next to no sound.

The Harness from pac audio said to connect the rear speaker wires from the pac audio harness to the front wires of the head unit because the vehicle is equipped with with an OEM amplifier. They said the other wires woudn't be used.

Same thing, crackling and barely any sound.

Then I read in the booklet for the AVH-2400BT that you are supposed to connect the violet solid to the violet red on the radio harness side if the sub is 2ohm.

Sound is a bit clearer but still not working.

I am about 2 seconds away from taking the car to best buy.

Don't go to best buy... we can figure this out.

I used the same harness on my Clarion - it can be a bit confusing with all of the wires. I had to call PAC about some questions I had... and I must say, PAC has the best customer service of any company I have ever called. No joke. Those guys are good. I was wiring mine up in an unconventional way and they easily could have said "that's not the suggested way". Instead, they listened to what I wanted and got me all wired up perfectly. So first things first, give them a call.

That being said, let's see if we can help. Let's start with what you have. Is it all stock? What is your current audio package/head unit? And what are you adding to the system?

All I am trying to do is replace my stock REC unit with the Pioneer AVH-2004BT.

I think I may have figured it out last night (after a few shots of Jack haha go figure)

The problem was that all the speakers need to be hooked up as they should, but I also bought a relay to enable video playback while driving.

This relay requires:

Green goes to green for parking break
Black goes to black for ground
Blue goes to blue and white for amp turn on.

Well I installed the relay first and I put the remote on from the radio, to the solid blue of the RP4 which I don't think is correct.

So I spliced in the blue and white from the radio, into the line of the relay. Then hooked up the rest of the speakers and it sounds, decent. Let me see if I can get some pictures once the people in my home wake up.

Thank you BTW for being quick on the reply and willing to help me out.

Ok, now I'm with ya. And yes, Jack often helps.

I used the same type of in-motion relay with this harness as well.

Yeah - post some pics if you can.

As far as the speaker wires, I didn't connect any of them because I am not using the stock amp at all. But if I were to, I'd connect them wire-for-wire as they should be - just ignore those strange instructions about the rear speakers when amped, etc.

Couple things... Only use one of the two yellow wires from the PAC for the constant 12v. If you are using both yellows it could cause interference. However, you can use both black wires from the PAC to ground the HU, and also ground the relay all together.

For the amp turn on lead, you want to connect the HU's blue/white to the PAC's blue/white, and the bypass's blue.

For the parking brake, you want to connect the HU's light green to the PAC's red/white, and the bypass's green.

For the reverse (if you are using that function), you connect the HU's violet/white to the PAC's green.

I think that should be the only tricky ones as I am looking at the manual for your HU. Everything else should match up color for color I believe.

Hope this helps.

Well I got it working mostly, what I am not happy about is the speaker noise when nothing is playing. Its almost like the speakers are turned up way to loud and you hear static, yet the volume is only set at 8.

Sounds like an amp and an LOC may be in your future.

The stock kicker sound is amazing, I had to turn the sub to -2db to have it tolerable. I just don't understand the speaker static noise when nothing is playing.

It's gotta be some interference. Power or ground is interfering with your audio wires somehow - would be my guess.

Make sure that you have all of the wires that you are not using well capped off and sealed - add some heat shrink to the cut tips of those wires. Also, you may want to separate the power/ground wires in the harness from the speaker audio wires in the harness. Maybe bundle them separately and put some heat shrink around each individual bundle to keep them separated.

Or you might just not be grounded well. Be sure to use both black grounds from the PAC harness and/or ground the HU to a good chassis spot.
