2012 Garmin Nav Update

Hi All,

I recently received a notification from my system informing me that the maps required updating. However i have been searching all over the interwebs and i keep getting to this website chryslergroup.navigation.com/home/en_US/ChryslerNA/USD ( I cannot post links yet sorry)

Now this would be all well and good however when i add in my details and the system model etc it keeps telling me about a new map system called HERE that Chrysler now uses. This is frustrating me because i have a Garmin system 8.4N.

I have googled all over and not found anything else. I did notice a few threads talking about CD updates however it looked to me like those were for older systems.

If i have missed something or there is a thread i may have over looked, please let me know!

New maps are dealer only in Aus. However I'm not sure there are any. Your only choice becomes....

I was reading through that thread. However i feel like either the info is outdated, or no longer applicable. I could be wrong. I'm not in a suitable frame of mind to read through 60+ pages haha. The instructions were also slightly unclear. I'm not sure how i am to get my grubby mitts on a copy of the map update that was suggested.

I have a 2012 300c LUX and I just get the message "HERE® is the map of choice for Chrysler Group. For maximum performance, it’s critical to keep that map fresh and reliable. Updating your map is easy, just visit your local Chrysler Group dealership." so apparently it's dealership only.

Called my local dealership and they said there were no updates

I tried purchasing the software, which was $180, figuring I could just download them straight off of Garmin Express however that is not the case. So now I'm stuck with a missing $180 and no updated maps
I do have a theory on how we could go about getting the files though.
The only way I figure we'd be able to update is to have a different Garmin GPS device that you download the maps onto, extract the maps from, then put on a USB following those instructions in the thread with the most updated version.

That thread info is not outdated. You can either get the files off an appropriate garmin device or you can download them off the net, I can't tell you where as that's inappropriate on this forum so you'll have to do you own research. Same applies if you don't want to research the thread, I'm not going to do it for you as I'm sure you'll understand it's been done many many times before and once the info is gleaned that's the last we see of that person. Trust me that gets old.

So if you want to make a bit of an effort and do some homework it's fine to ask some questions if you don't quite understand some part of the process. I'm sure we'll help you then, we just don't want to do it all for you because we're burned out. (well I am anyway).

Go over that thread and then here's a couple more depending on which radio you have...

HOW TO: Map Update on Uconnect CTP13+ (2013 - 2014) - Dodge Charger Forums

HOW TO: Map Update on Uconnect CTP11 & CTP12 (2011 - 2012) - Dodge Charger Forums

Keep in mind our radios have been nobbled by the maggots at Chrysler Australia and VR doesn't work properly on '12 - '14 radios so some of those files mentioned you won't need.

Anyway the result of your research will end with you having updated maps and being able to update them easily 3 or 4 times a year. No thanks at all to Chrysler.

Is it only possible if I have the Garmin nuvi?
As I said earlier, I've already purchased the $190 update from Garmin directly and I can see that Nuvis have free lifetime maps so it's a bit of a waste for me.

To be honest I've never used a Garmin gps unit and extracted the files to update the maps, I've only ever downloaded them from the internet, and never had a problem doing that.

I'm guessing you download it from another source rather than garmin express?
