Resetting the Navi system back to it factory settings.

I downloaded a copy of the latest navi dvd for my 2006, 300C and at first glance it looked and worked ok. Now it is having problems mapping and recalculating routes.

I want to install the orginal factory navi DVD but it will not let me down grade software versions, so how can I perform a reset to a factory setting/default.

i wont be the best at describing this...
But thats correct you can only move forward not backward but heres what to do,
Download the old software version and save it as .1 version higher than your knewer one you just downloaded.

For example you say you had v5.7 and upgraded to v6.1... down load the v5.7 but then resave it as v6.2
This will trick the system as to believing its a new program but in reality you'll be running older software.
Hope this makes sense for you

You can actually force the install of an older disc....you have to access the secret Nav menu in order to do so....I am not sure exactly where to go cause i don't have my REC unit anymore but to open the hidden menu it would be (making sure the car isn't on or the headlights either, just accessory power) click am, then fm, then click the nav button..now push and hold the 2 and 6 of the preset buttons and while holding them hit the cancel button. This will bring up the hidden menu and you should be able to choose a forced install of an older nav disc. I have done it before..it isn't recommended but it will do and it is also easier then creating a disc with a different version number attached to it. Hope this helps.

I just tried this, but got a blank (black) screen after doing so. I appear to have full functionality from the radio, but nothing comes up on the screen. I'm also unable to get back into the hidden menu.

Any suggestions?

Thats because you cant change it via the nav, you have to burn it with the new code
