At $14.99 a roll for 12.5 square feet (6 inches x 25 ft) its 1.19 a square foot and it is asphalt based so you need to seal it with aluminum tape ($7.99 a roll at lowes) Bringing the installed cost to $1.83 a square foot. Only way you won't need the aluminum tape is if you live in a cool climate. Otherwise on hot days your car will smell like tar.

Or you can get 100 sq ft of fatmat extreme on ebay for $129.00 with free shipping. So $1.29 a sq ft or $1.83 a square foot? And fatmat is rubber based so it doesn't smell in the heat.

Actually 124.98 shipped

can we do simple math here....
(1) 50mil = $130 total 50mil
(1) 70mil = $240 total 70mil
(2) 50mil = $260 total 100mil

$240/70mil = $3.42/mil
$260/100mil = $2.60/mil

$2.60 < $3.42

for the extra $20 it'd be worth buying to 50mil and doubling up but then again it'd depend on the length

The first two options are made of a rubberized asphalt compound, and have a tar smell. The third option, "Mega Mat", is made of a Butyl compound, and has no odor, hence the higher price. So if one wanted to spend the extra $ so that it didn't have any smell, they would want Mega Mat, instead of doubling up on the cheapest option.

Having said that, yesterday I ordered 1oo Sq. Ft. of Mega Mat from the Ebay seller "Noise killers" for $239. Today they called me up and said that they wont have the product in stock until Mid August! They gave me a refund. Meanwhile, my car is sitting here stripped down, with no Mega Mat on the way!

I called FatMat directly to see if this product was available. Of course the rep on the phone said she had no idea of knowing if it was available, and transferred me to a voice mail. Now I have to wait and see if they maybe call me back!

I thought to myself, how can a sales rep not know if a product they sell is unavailable..they only have 3 products for crying out loud! So I called back and said, isn't there a way to check if you have that product? She said no. So I said well what if I wass calling to order it, what would you do? She said I would put the order through! So basically they would take my payment not knowing if the product was even available! Pretty stupid if you ask me.

So now I have to sit and wait, probably till Monday, and see if they call back!
What a Effin waste of time!!!

Finally got my 100^ of FatMat, got the MegaMat Butyl. Took about 50^ just for the trunk area. Another 50^ for the back deck and back seat area. Didn't have enough for the rest of the floorboard and doors, so I ordered another 50^. I don't think doubling up is necessary. When I close my trunk now it makes a nice thud sound, sounds solid.
