Hi all, have just seen this and am curious as to how to do it. I can access "Soxs" link so I am presuming that all I do is download it on my PC and then transfer it to a DVD and put it in my CD?DVD slot in my car. Couple of questions:
Does it have to be a particular type of CD? ie + or- or indeed a DVD?
Can it be done with a USB drive through the USB port?
Do I have to do anything when I insert the media into my MyGig unit?
Will the operation erase any CD's that I have already installed?

You have to burn to a DVD and disc name well as the Gracenote Update for examples ECE_4621
On the DVD you must burn only these, without the main folder:

GNDB (folder)
gnupdate (File)

what software application and gracenotes you have now??

Ah - I now see after opening several "sub folder it eventually gets to EU 4621.rar
Is the update for U connect touch applicable to my model as well?

 

You need to look in system information on your radio.
I don't know what to do either and my radio etc works so have not bothered updating anything.

 

I created the (DVD+) disc and inserted it in my unit. It said DATA on the display, I left it in the car for 40 minutes and removed. On the settings page it says GRACENOTE 518. Is that the latest version?

 

I don't think you can go straight from 518 to 4621. I think you need 882 and 2059 first. I have these but I get an error when I add the disk.

'Serious error when updating software' and at the bottom left it shows guardian VOLUME and a lot of red vertical lines.

Now my Gracenotes shows N/A as the version.

which Software you have installed?

mygig works normally shows only in the systeminformaion n/a by gracenotes, rigth?

 

I'm on 2403 - that part is fine - its just the Gracenotes showing as NA in the System Menu

 

then are this no problem just install the gracenotes database.

go with the 4621, burn this new on a dvd with nero or.....but not the windoes burner and try again.

I have 2008 300c with a REN MyGig radio. I want to update Gracenotes in this unit. Currently I have Gracenote version 534 according to the system, with Application version 9.112.

I have down loaded GN 4620 RER, but while reading this string, it was suggested I update GN in two steps. First step was to update using GN 2059, followed by 4620.

Two questions you can help me with:

1) Will GN 4620 RER work in my REN radio?
2) The GN 2059 file you have on your MYDRIVE apparently the EU version. Should I be looking for the equivilent US version?

Gracenote update from 518 to 4621

Hi,
just did the Gracenote update on my REW radio in my Grand Cherokee 3.0.

Gracenote previously showed 518, which is very old!
Did the update in 2 steps. First I unpacked the 2059 file from the swiss server and burned a dvd (Platinum-DVD) with expressburn. Second dvd with file 4621 same procedure.
After inserting the dvd to the radio it showed "data" and then asked if I want to update from 518 to 2059. The 2059 update took 2,5 hours and not 30min as shown on then REW display. No touching the Radio when the update is in procedure. After the update is loaded, take out the dvd, turn the radio off and lock the car for 10 min. Then the update 4621. Loadingtime 2:40min.

Application is now 2.404 and Gracenote: 4621

Hope this helps those guys that are not sure how to update the gracenotepart of the radio.

I’ve down loaded the updates and burned them with Nero Express, when I run the updates on my REW the 9.807 runs and so does 2.404 but the 9.713 does not can anyone help. I’m also having problems with the Gracenotes 2059 EU and 4621 EU, once again I burned them again with Nero Express but when disc put in mygig all that comes up is data and just sits there. Any ideas????????????

if you have the 9.807 install dont need to go with the 9.713 , you can install direct the 2.404

 

REW update

Hi Pete,
if the 2.404 applikation is showing when you check the system-data, then you have updated your REW to the newest stage. That part is finished!

The gracenote now has to be updated.
Go to the Swiss server load down the gracenote update files onto your computer, entpack these data-packages (2059 and 4621) and then put the entpacked file 2059 in a folder and the 4621 file in a seperate folder.
I burned each file on a seperate Platinum DVD with expressburn at slowest speed (4x). With Nero I also had problems!
Just turn the key of your vehicle so that the radio would run. Insert the 2059 DVD into your REW. Data is shown shortly and then the question if you want to update. On a "Yes" the radio will tell you that it takes about 30 min to update, but in truth it took 2,5 hours on my REW unit. Don´t touch the radio after you´ve answered with "yes". Get out of the car, open the boot and just keep the car in sight. When everything is done the radio goes on again and askes you if you want to update. Say "no" and take the DVD out of the radio.
Switch the radio off and lock up the car for 10min.

Same procedure with gracenote update 4621.

I have now finally updated my gracenotes, but I am still having problems with update 9.713. I have downloaded this file about six times and burned all different ways, it just won’t boot in it tells me it’s the wrong disc. :banghead:
I must be doing something wrong so hopefully someone can help.

the car is very particular about the make of DVDR / CDR. You can have a good burn, but on the wrong make you'll just get a message saying 'data disc'

Also, what are you burning it on? gracenotes & the software update need a CDR & a DVDR, you cant use the same type for both

 

Its only this one update, the rest have worked on the same disc's (dvd+rw for the gracenotes and sony cdr for the updates). i just can't get this one to work and i have tryed a few different cdr's :cussing:

I´m trying to update my system from 518 to 2059 and 5621 and from 9.713 to 9.807 and 2.404 but have some problems with the installation.
May you give me some help with this ? Do you still have the 2059 software ? I cannot find it on the mydrive.ch server anymore.

so i bought a 2009 Nitro with an REW Mygig system. i have been able to upgrade the firmware from version NTG4_1.220 to the current version NTG4_2.404 .
i am yet to update the gracenotes but my current version is 518. i have read from the forums that i may have to install in two steps ie Gracenote v882 and
then Gracenote v2059 before i attempt to install the GN-4621. unfortunately Sox's link only has the newer version ie . 4621 i cant seem to find the older versions on any forum. if anyone has an idea where i can download them can you please PM me or post a link. will be most grateful.
