Chrysler promotes designer Ralph Gilles to vice president

Mary Connelly
Automotive News / March 15, 2006 - 12:03 pm

DETROIT -- The designer who penned the hit Chrysler 300 sedan will now be a vice president at the Chrysler group.

Ralph Gilles, 36, becomes vice president of Jeep/truck and component design on April 1, the company said Wednesday. He replaces Ricardo Aneiros, 60, who is retiring.

Gilles has been director of the company's truck studio since 2005. He joined the company in 1992.

Thumbs up Promotions...

When it comes to Promotions and the like in Corp. America, Results should speak for themselves and I applaud Ralph Gilles, for his Vision on what he's created in the 300 platform, he's put together an awesome Team, and I look forward to seeing what his Vision holds for DCX and his contributions as the NEW V.P. Way to go Chrysler!

Looking forward to meeting THE MAN behind our great cars.

Larry

When I first met Ralph, he was racing a Dodge Caravan made out of remanufactured parts in One Lap of America.

When you meet him in SoCal at Hemee's meet, remember that he is just as much of a car enthusiast as you are. For all the influence he has in the automotive world, when he takes off the tie and dress shoes, he's a driver.

If you can't make it to the SoCal meet, or want to hang out with him some more, he'll be spending four days with us at the SRT Nationals in July.

Promotion to VP based on proven result appears well in line. He has demostrated what it takes to be good at something you like and like what you're good at.

Ralph, congrats on the promo and thanks for creating a car that brought so much new found fun in ownership. Even at 19 when I bought a Corvette I didn't feel this way about a car. Just something about it that says "Me, Me, Me" when you look at one.

Looking forward to meeting the Man behind the Design at the March meet.

I really wish I was able to attend the M & G so I could meet Ralph Giles and hang with the other car fanatics. That’s great he has been promoted. I’m sure he well deserves it for all of his accomplishments. So does Ralph still drive a CSRT8 or has he moved into a new Jeep SRT8?
