I will definitely be looking at purchasing one in spring. Perfect timing for DC with Lincoln announcing the end of 07 is the end of the Town Car. The replacement is the ford 500 sized car. Not in a livery class as far as size. This is coming at the right time. My guess is they under estimated the public wanting this. My guess less 2K more than a comparable model non stretch.

I actually haven't checked to see how much room someone would have behind me, but a friend of mine has. He's a local politician, and I was at his house a couple of weeks after I bought my C. He asked if there was any room in the rear when I am driving, so I told him to check. I am 6'4", and I think that he is 6'5".
I saw him about a week ago, and he is sporting a new Linen Gold 300C. If he felt that there was enough room in it; I guess that I'm safe with mine for now.

at 6-6, only kids sit with enough room behind me unless i move seat up from normal. have to recline to keep head off ceiling. several more inches will be a good thing in the rear (pardon the expression).

stillalivenwell,
I'm with you. I'm only 6 feet, but I would like to be able to have someone in the back seat and not have to move my seat up and adjust it for the rear seat rider. I have to do that in my Ram all the time and it drives me crazy. Although I think the rear seat space in the Ram is less, it still drives me nuts. So yes we're ordering the 300C LWB as soon as we can.

Lincoln vs Chrysler

I've been in the livery industry for 6 years driving anything from the short sedan to the 24 pass H2 Hummer and I know that 90% (estimated) of this industry is owned by Lincoln. Lincoln makes a great car for consumers and the commercial crowd. When I heard that Chrysler was making the LWB version of the 300 I said great!! When it comes out I am ready to trade in my Lincoln for it and as for powerplant the V-6 is fine for me. I understand you have a need for the 6.1 liter in your 300, as for personal use I would love it but 70% of the LWB versions will be picked up by the livery businesses as thats why I believe Chrysler is building it. Gas is shooting past the 3 dollar mark and I drive 200-300 miles daily and the 3.5 will save me gas and 250hp is enough to get me going down the road.

As for the Executives not wanting to ride in an underpowered car? I handled the NFL owners in Northbrook, Il and I didn't get the " hey, why doesn't this car have more power? " remark. They wanted comfort and safety.

Now that Lincoln has officialy pulled the plug on the town car, timing is great. I was in the livery business in the mid 90's would not of bought anything but Town Cars then.

300 Lwb

I think the 300 LWB is going to be very popular, especially with the Livery companies. I think the more important question is what do you think of the 2007 300 C SRT-8 coming with an available 5.7 Hemi??? I don't know, should just keep that as the C with the big power of the 6.1 as the SRT-8!

The LWB version as far as I can tell, does not address the #1 issue cab and other commercial users have with the SWB model - trunkroom.

At 15.6 cu ft it is less than even the Sebring and far less than the crown Vic and the 500. - both with 20+ cu ft. That kind of room is essential to work the airport shuttle.

Other than that, the LWB is the perfect rig for them - RWD in theory should be more durable than the CVT FWD 500 that, I suspect, is the only other option besides the FWD Impala.

You are confused. There is no 2007 300C SRT8 5.7 model. It will be a 300C with an SRT package or body kit. Just like every Mercedes model comes with an AMG Sport Package option. It is just for looks and no performance nor SRT badges. The kits does not make the cars an SRT nor an AMG.

Well I can tell you this.
My father and uncle are both in a private limousine company and my uncle told me that they might accept the 300's as a limo car (not stretch limos, more like car service type)
If thats the case, I think the drivers would opt for the LWB, so the 300's are in the looks.
