Major updates in the works!

Allright guys... I'm getting ready to add some features to the board.. Here's my current list, feel free to add more if you wish:

1. Photo Gallery

You already have the ability to upload photos and such on the forums here, but a photo gallery should be easier and would allow you to hotlink your photos on another forum.

2. Active Topics

The Active Topics link in the top navbar will start working. This will allow you to view the 50 most "recent" active topics. Recent means the 50 topics with the last 50 posts in them.

3. Photo Contest

I'm going to start a Photo Contest -- I need you to submit your photos to a thread I will be starting... I'm going to use the best photo to add a car image into the forums logo. So make sure if you post it, that its okay for me to use it.

Any other ideas, suggestions?

Another feature we are wanting to add:

300C FAQ

We will be putting up a "wiki" where everyone has access to help out on the FAQ.

All sounds great, ekool.

Can we do something about the proliferating of the subject matter? What I mean is -- is it possible to constrain similar subject matter to keep things better organized?

This set of forums is quite well done and the response from the owners/would be owners is very apparent as I'm sure you know. Personally, I really appreciate being able to talk reasonably to persons who enjoy this same hobby. Thanks much.

How is this group of forums being funded? It's gotta cost some money? Do you need help?

I pay for the forum out of my pocket until we pick up some advertisers, then it usually pays for itself. Takes some time to get to that point, but right now its so small it really doesnt cost too much.

As far as the subject matter, we can move things to the proper sections, there's an off-topic area for matter that doesnt fit into the other sections.

I think we just need a couple more moderators to make that happen, is that what you mean?

I'll be happy to contribute some funds, if you need or would like some help; just give me an idea where to send it and will send a check.

By "we can move things to proper sections", I assume you mean that the should do that? That would be an answer but doesn't appear to be working well at this point and it will get worse as the amount of such posts increase.

On the needs for more moderators, it is becoming very difficult to follow threads which are substantially the same but end up in different places. This is causing persons to begin to ask questions which have already been asked and answered elsewhere. If you mean that should be moving similar threads into earlier similar ones, that just isn't happening at this point.

Perhaps, the soon-to-be FAQ's will assist by providing some guidance on this problem. More may or should certainly help. But part of the beuty of this set of forums is their informality. So...

Also, some specific help/guidance on how the seach feature functions would help. I assumed it was a usual keyword search. But personally, I haven't had much success with it. Admittedly, though, when provided with the proper keyword, it DOES work fine. Guess what I'm looking for is some guidance as to just how sensitive (or insensitive) the search ability is. Mea culpa :^(

I agree with Miles, a “couple” more moderators would be nice, I have been on here for a while, and I love it. I’m on almost everyday and I find it very informative. However it is getting hard to follow some topics, and frustrating to see new members not searching. I also have had problems searching, just figured it was me ......

Once again thanks for the wonderful site, bring on the FAQ’s !!!

Can the hemi registry be listed in numerical VIN number. This is how its done on my Tbird site. This way we can tell how early we are in the build cycle and can be helpful regarding build info or recall info. I'm the third lowest number in the 2002 tbird registery and I suspect I could even be lower here with my 300C.

We are going to add a couple moderators..... so that should help.

As far as the search, I'm not sure what issues you guys are having? Give me some detailed searches that go wrong.

As far as the owners registry, what software do you use for that?

A member's ride section with pics, info and mods would be great, but that can eventually take up space and bandwidth so it depends on how much your are willing to spend/donate/advertise.

Also a Hemi news sub forum within the general 300c forum would be kind of cool to showcase featured articles, and reviews etc.

Most car sites have FAQs/Do it yourself guides as well, and one things like the grill install etc get going maybe a more organized structure for them would be easy.

This place is great and hopefully we will get a lot more people.
