Bob.....you were very positive through all of this ( I scrolled through your posts for the only time I've been on lately .......late last night) . You are certainly one of the most respected voices of reason here ....and are one of my favorite members (here ....and in person at the meets) . If there is a captain of this damaged ship....I'm glad it's you brother .

I am in with that crowd . So are most of you . That is a fun crowd ...I'll tell you ....and made this a fun place for me ...and alot of you . Stress relief from a stressful job . I guess some PM apologies...back and forth.....should be a starting point . Mistakes were made . Reputations were slaughtered ....name calling in front of peers ( I thought there were forum rules against that ) . I'm not naming names....but you know the players....if you are listening . I would like this place to feel like home again . Now it gets complicated ........... stop catering exclusively to the very small minority of sensitive members ....who through a disasterous series of events.....now have this forum all to themselves (fun...isn't it ) . If the topic doesn't suit you...back out of the thread . Or don't go in it . Or block members whose content disturbs/annoys you . You already have these '' emotional '' safeguards in place people ...use them and please do not bombard the mods/admins with reporting every thing that annoys you ...just move on to another thread . Now.....members should not be bashed /insulted/ganged up on or abused (unless it is playfull banter among friends ...which happens often..trust me ) . The report button should be mainly used to report spammers folks....not to incessantly complain about things that do not agree with your personality . You are partially responsible for this mess . Everybody is . You may be getting ready to delete this but I implore you not to as you may not want to agree with me but it has all contributed to where we find ourselves . There is a way to work this out . We are all losers in this game . The forum will go on and thankfully prosper.....but it would be nice if all were along for the ride . Some of those guys were extraordinarily helpful members ....and quite supportive to the forum . Where do we start ???? That's the million dollar question . Maybe it's just too soon . Maybe it will never happen . You asking what should be done to improve the forum....is certainly a good first step . Now there are some fences to mend....if you are interested . I , for one , hope that you are . As I hope they are . Hope this stays , Mike .

Well throughout this whole mess there have been times when I was not able to employ Mike's level of restraint, and I did post angry. If that offended anyone, or hurt anyone, I apologize!!!!!!!!

Now, since we have danced around this long enough, I wouold like to see the chat reactivated. Or at least an open discussion exploring the possibilty. By discussion I mean a civilized venue such as this thread, that is heavily guarded to ensure that it remains on topic, and air it out. Why we should have it, why we shouldn't, how to ensure that it doesn't get out of hand, etc. I think that this thread is definitely a step in the right direction for all. Let's keep it as a productive tool.

Thank you to the people responsible for opening this line, and I hope we can see some of these things in the near future.

How about a "chat type" area in OT where members can just banter back and forth?

Could be a "sticky" to stay on top. Just a thought . . .

Yes, sort of like my thread "Premium Chat" ....a place to go and express a thought, emotion or a simple pic, without the fear of hijacking.

Hey, good idea! You could call it... uhmm.. "The Longest Thread" maybe? then delete it shortly thereafter?

Great Idea.

How about "OT" having its own button in the main blue menu. This would give people the opportunity to make there own choice either to click on this topic or not. Also "OT" will still be in plain site ( not get lost) for those people that enjoy it. Could OT have its own section so it can only be read in that section? Separate from all other Forum posts...

I think you would have less complaints from the members that do not like all the OFF TOPIC post. They would not have any reason to push the BUTTON !

Just a thought. I would like to see this place get back on track again ! Whatever it takes lets do it !

Brad

Thats really not reasonable as it would lead to massive database bloat.

Those large threads really do a number on the database because they have to be indexed.
