Oh trust me I know they come in both sexes. I commute from Manhattan Beach to Sherman Oaks every day in rush hour.

I don't allow myself to flick the bird and scream and yell with my fist out the window at the women though. They wouldn't notice anyways!

The soccer moms with screaming children in the back do seem to be the most scary when I spot them though. Any time I see kids bouncing in the back seat in a MiniVan or SUV in my rear view I change lanes.... I know how distracting kids can be. I'm still one.

Funny how they don't mention that it's a 2WD JEEP!
ESP can drastically reduce an SUVs tendency to roll, so I wouldn't discount the safety factor of that thing. I wonder how much it'll start at? I'd guess 39,999.

LS2 vs. Hemi 6.1L

Both awesome motors... BTW, I'm curious about the Jeep SRT-8's times... under 5.0 seconds and they dont even advertise that for the SRT-8 300C? What gives.

While I agree that this IS the time to be a car enthusiast, if prices of gas continue to go up, lots of these manufacturers are going to find themselves with a lot of cars they can't sell. I do ok for myself and filling the tank is starting to get rather costly. If they stay to limited production runs then they should be ok. Oh well, I'll pay for it as long as I still get that grin on my face everytime I hit the gas.

You havent been to our neighborhood high school then. If they can be driving hummers, 7-series, 500sl, and such they can afford this.

Brings back memories of my old GMC TYPHOON!!!

The attached article from CNN states that the new 2006 Jeep SRT-8 is full time four wheel drive.

CNN Money

A little over 9 years ago I owned a Limited production GMC Typhoon which was AWD and had a turbo-charged, intercooled Grand National engine in it. My friend boosted the turbo a few pounds and we changed out the intercooler for a better one and I got high 4's to 60 thanks to the AWD launch and she ran mid to high 13's in the quarter mile. I really miss the look on the faces of those that just got smoked by a skirted out Jimmy on steroids!! It was so low to the ground and had such a tight suspension that I would have had to turn the wheel pretty sharp at high speeds to roll it. I sold it when I got my job in pharmaceutical sales and the company gave me a free Ford Taurus for the past 9 years. I just left the company and bought a 300C since the new job gives me a car allowance instead. This is the most fun I have had on the road in 9 years since I sold the Typhoon.

BTW- The research I did on this forum and the no-nonsense, straight forward opinions of the members here influenced my buying decision. For the record, I almost bought the Jeep with the HEMI because the lease rate was better, but my wife already has the Toureag with the V-8, so I decided against a second truck. I want to thank you guys for helping to make an impulse decision (based on my first test drive!) a more educated one. If any of you guys are in the Philadelphia area, let me know.

I stand corrected, it is AWD. Sounds like an amazing Xfer case too.

Looking at the pics on jeep.com, I really think it needs either larger wheels (I hate larger wheels) or taller sidewalls (which are crap for performance) or it needs to be lowered more (yes!). I think I can fit my head in all that wheel well gap.
Other than that, it's a nice piece, should sell well.

So, when is the Durango going to get the 6.1L?
