Thumbs up It's Official: Dodge Challenger SRT8

The prospect of a Dodge Challenger SRT8 model seemed a sure thing among many car forums across the internet... however as we all know the current economic situation as well as rising gas prices always left room for a little doubt in our minds. It's refreshing to see the Dodge Challenger SRT8 officially announced, so we may all now let out a collective sigh of relief.

As always, we have a forum dedicated to the Dodge Challenger and the SRT8 specific model as well at the Dodge Challenger Forum - Dodge Challenger Forum

Please be sure to stop in and register and say hi to all the other Dodge Challenger enthusiasts!

One question grunt. From the pics I posted here and linked at Challenger, there was no fishing pole on the top of the car. Is it coming with one and did they just unscrew it, or is it back on the rear window?

Jesus man, if you only knew how funny that was!!! We know it off by heart and it's probably the most used and well known phrase by the SRT Engineers...haha. I perfectly understand why you can't answer though.

RS (who can and does comment on future product) answered it here - Is The Fishing Pole Dead?.

Yipee! It'll be gone and I really do think they're listening to us.

Its nice to now be able to talk about the Chally as it has been released to the general public . Its another car we the workers at the plant get to brag about getting to build . Now if I could only win the 6/49 so I could buy one

I think Chrysler has it wrong

If you research the Challenger's history, it was enouned because it offered such a wide range of powertrains for its time. But, what killed it - and most muscle cars - was the economic situation of the time i.e. skyrocketing gas prices due to oil crisis.

And now Chrysler is releasing it again when Premium Unleaded is a few cents shy of $4.00 a gallon?

GUESS WHAT... this car is going to be in the same bracket as the Cadillac STS - especially when you figure dealers will sell it $10,000 above sticker.

Its size and weight is nearly the same as the Dodge Charger. I'd hoped it would be lighter - it really isn't. I expect its performance to be about what we're getting out of the SRT8 300C.

Well we have been rolling them off the line. I saw Jay Lenos car and a "Special Blue" Challenger that may be a familiar colour to racing fans go off the line too. Looked hot! I hope they sell despite gas prices, I wish I could use a 2 door.
