Chrysler May Reduce Brands to Just Dodge and Jeep

Chrysler, the brand that carries the name of the corporation behind it, may not do so for long. According to a report on AdAge.com, Fiat executives are looking at if they should keep all three Chrysler brands (Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep) and the most likely candidate to get axed is Chrysler itself.

A spokesperson for Chrysler admitted she had also heard the rumors but could not confirm them.

Apparently this isn't the first time the Chrysler brand has faced the chopping block as executives at the company debated cutting the brand earlier this year.

Over the past several years the Chrysler lineup has been diminished significantly with models like the Crossfire, PT Cruiser, Aspen and Pacifica all being cut.

With the exception of the Chrysler 300 (and possibly the Town & Country, the low volume sibling of the Caravan), there aren't any Chrysler models that would be missed.

well not in the short term, but possibly long term..... 20 years from now when the 300C is remembered as the last REAL Chrysler, it might be worth something. It's hard to predict which cars will have collector value and which will just be used cars.

Hi Guys!!

I think that would be a BIG MISTAKE!!

The Chrysler brand is the only one Chrysler has that could - conceivably - challenge the likes of the Cadillac CTS and Lincoln MKZ/MKS. The FIAT lead Chrysler Group just has to move Chrysler upscale and avoid diluting the brand by offering [As the 'old Chrysler' has already done] 'basic models'. In my opinion there never should have been a 300 available with the 2.7 litre V6. The Walmart-Bin mentality has all but ruined the Chrylser name. Chrysler brand vehicles should never have been sold on PRICE. With the updated 300 and new 200 series - the Chrysler brand has a chance to become what is once was - a very respected brand. As for the T&C - move that upscale as well - leaving the Caravan to fend for itself with the more basic minivans. Besides - there is nothing wrong with having three models under one name. Lexus only had two when it started. The LS400 and ES250.

Craig!!
