300, 300C join rebate parade

Amid an epidemic of incentive fever, Chrysler's star cars have come down with the sniffles.

The 300 and 300C - two of just a handful of Big 3 models that haven't needed incentives - joined the rebate fray July 1. The deal: $500 through July 31 on 2006 models. The SRT8 isn't included.

It's the first straight-up spiff for the cars since they went on sale in March 2004, although Chrysler last year offered a $1,000 break on deals written by its captive finance arm. And in June, Chrysler dipped its toe into the water by offering an extra $500 on trade-ins for those models.

Not coincidentally, the rebates come after two months of declining sales: Chrysler sold 11,504 300s and 300Cs in June, down 7.6 percent from June 2004. May sales were down 5.4 percent.

A spokesman shrugged off the break in the dam: "It's a volume segment, and customers are predisposed to have to have a discount."

Hmmmm. That's interesting. I just bought my 300C last week and my dealer says he knows nothing about this rebate. I wonder if this is a nationwide rebate, or only in select areas?

I bought mine on July 6 and they gave me the $500 but called it a repeat buyer discount. They did not indicate that it was sponsored by the factory. I bought my last car, 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4X4 from them and the Nissan I had before that from their Nissan dealer. Anyway, I did get the $500 off sticker on July 6.

I heard an ad on the radio just yesterday for this and they said the 300 was not included in the rebate....maybe the Florida dealers aren't participating.

ekool I was looking on chryslaers website and did not find any 500.00 off on any 300 or 300c models if you can give us a link to something on chryslers web site that states this rebate.

Given that some markets are hotter than others it's most likely a dealer spiff, so it won't be advertised at retail.

Just had a good friend buy a loaded 300C Black about 3 weeks ago at Arrigo Dodge in West Palm beach, FL for dealer invoice with very little haggling. I paid invoice less 1% for my 05 back in July of 05. These cars are available at good discounts at certain dealers you've got to shop around some to get a real deal. I currently have SRT-8 on order and am in no hurry to get it at invoice price.
