Camber Adjustment?

I have had my car aligned today after having various arms replaced on the front. When I picked my car up the technician showed me the before and after printout showing adjustment to toe for all four wheels. He explained camber is out slightly on nearside front and offside rear but are not adjustable on my car!? Is this correct? Since having it back it does drive a lot better but am worried about the camber being out...

Hey Dan, did you get that from a Hunter set up? What are your before and after reading for toe, caster and camber? And yes the rears cambers are non adjustable but can be made adjustable, again, by replacing one of the rear with eccentric polyurethane bushes (slightly cheap and smaller in size). The rears can run up to around -1* camber and hardly gives any problem.

Did you get a print out ?

The rear camber is not adjustable although camber kits are available.
Front camber is adjustable via a cradle shift or camber bolts, both of these
adjustments are beyond the scope of the home mechanic.

Front Right camber should be between -0.40 to +0.60
Front Left camber should be between -0.70 to +0.30

Preferred settings
Right side +0.10
Left side -0.20

The fact that it's driving better and not pulling or drifting
is a good sign that all is well.

I've had mine checked twice.....& it still scrubs the inside edge of the front tyres

That is what used to happen on mine until I uprated the bushes to polyurethane all round

There is hardly any play with the polyurethane and the steering response feels a tad sharper. It holds the geometry rigid within specs, hardly any movement whilst driving.

By uprating the bushing to the tension arm, helped the most. No more tyre wear to the inside.

I will post results up later this evening. Seemed great for the first couple of days, front end feels fine. But the back feels loose again over bumps. Is it "bump steer" I am experiencing? Hit a bump and the back of the car feels awkward, say anything from 30mph on a bend hit a rut or bump in the road and the back of the car twitches off course. Do I need to start thinking about rear bushes? What bushes are there to change? Many thanks, Dan

Castor
Left 0.00
Right -0.18

I paid 60 for this alignment, they never mention any bushes looked worn but did advise "angles were out and should drive a lot better"

Your camber read out to the rear right is too negative. Check the rear upper lateral arm bushes, they are most probably worn and could need replacing. Eccentric polyurethane bushes are available but TBH you only need standard ones to the rear axle. Its the fronts that usually need reinforcing.

This is what I got on Hunter, its very healthy but I would like to adjust the front left more closer to -0.12

Rear Camber
left -1.03
right -1.01

Rear Toe after
left 0.13
right 0.01

Front Camber
left -0.21
right 0.02

Front Toe after
left 0.00
right 0.00

The only way to get my CRD to drive straight on the flat was:

Left Front - 0.48 Camber
Right Front + 0.40 Camber

Within the recomended limits, but only just.

Wow, my service guy just told me that my camber angles are over –2 degrees, it should be closer to –0.3 he said. He also said it looks like it’s a common thing for the car, and that a few different companies make different set ups to fix it, of course nobody has any in Canada .

He sent an e-mail to a US supplier, hope to know shortly how long and how much it would take to get them. I had no idea about this problem. I just wanted to fly more stable at the high speeds, and was doing a routine alignment check...never even saw any bad tire wear.

Sure glad I found out about this, and I advise others to check their cambers...
