Working up a custom stock grille

Winter project underway.
Cut out grid and filled the voids. I used 8-32 studs instead of paper clips or wire to attach mesh. Still looking for mesh material. What's a good source for mesh? I have 2 more grilles I can mod, suggestions for a bright silver C?

Any idiot can build it strong, it's an engineers job to build it light.

Check your home center stores for mesh. Also, some auto parts stores carry it as well.

Nicely done. That's going to look very clean.

You can get cheap mesh at home centers as maddog said, or I do know that Grillcraft will sell you uncut mesh - but it ain't cheap.

So where do all you guys with Grips get your backing mesh??

I've looked at home depot and Lowes. Nothing there, this opening is huge as grilles go. Seems like normal mesh sheets are only 12" wide. Gets pricey at 16".
I'll check grillcraft next.

Well, like I said, the Grillcraft raw mesh isn't cheap either. I have a Grillcraft SW and I wanted to get a couple of small pieces for my lower vents. I can't remember exactly how much they quoted me, but I think it was around $200. So I stopped there. And now that I think of it, with your grill design you would almost need a piece that is nearly the size of the entire grill. And the full size Grillcraft SW grill is $500.

Don't get me wrong - it's some beautiful polished stainless steel, but if you are trying to keep the cost down then it's probably not the way to go obviously. I really do think you need to find out what kind of mesh all of the guys with Grip grills use. It might actually even be sold by Grip itself, so I'd check there too. Good luck

I've looked around online and didn't find any of those suppliers.
Thanks.

Update.
I went with the #4 SS wire mesh from racer parts, should be in the mail. Thanks tx bandit.
It's coming together now, I'll post some pics after paint, before clear coat.
