Does anyone know how long the paint is covered under warranty? I am still under the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty until january 2010. I know this warranty does not cover brakes past 12,000 miles, and I was wondering if paint falls under this 12,000 mile restriction? I have developed a few small (the largest is about a quarter) webbed cracks in my paint. They are on the roof of the car near the sunroof, and also on the trunk lid. They go through the clear coat, and through the paint. The largest one is now starting to spread, and you can see the primer. I have no idea what it is from being that I don't park under any trees, wash my car twice a week, and clay, polish, wax every 2 months. I want to get it taken care of, but the dealer is throwing me some B.S. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm going thru this right now. Yes, your paint falls under 3/36!
Whenver you an I hook up and I can have a look at it.
You have a 5yr 100,000 mile warranty on outer panels.
Sheet metal panels for 36 months no mileage limit. This info is in the warranty booklet you should have got when you bought the car. If the dealer gives you a hard time about it just show them the book.

I had the same problem on my wife's old 2000 Cherokee that we purchased brand new and it had 10k miles on it at the time. It developed peeling on the hood and roof. After 3 trips to the dealership and a visit with the regional rep, they admitted that it was a defect in the paint. They agreed to repaint it but would not give a loaner car and said the repair would take up to two weeks.
So my pregnant wife could either walk to work or we could pay for a rental car for 2 weeks that would have cost more than getting the hood and roof repainted ourselves. Great warranty!
Why Chrysler is the only manufacturer that does not give you a loaner car for warranty work, I have no idea... but that's another rant. Good luck with your repair.

I had the same thing happen on my last car. I got caught in a hailstorm, then had paintless dent repair work out all of the dents. A few months later, the paint was covered in webbed cracks. I don't know for certain that the hail damage and subsequent repair was the cause, but it certainly seems plausible.
Thanks all for your input, this is going to be like pulling teeth getting chrysler to man up and fix it. I know my dealer won't do it, so I am going to make a few visits to various dealers and see what I can do.

If I can look at it we can ask my dealership to fix it. They do all the warranty work the CenCalLX car club. Im not just a member ... I run it.

They didn't give you a loaner? My dealer gave me one upon being asked for one, but they didn't seem happy about it.

No they said it was not part of my warranty and even pulled out the warranty book to prove it.
The only reason I purchased two more Chrysler vehicles ( my srt and my wife's Commander ) was because I have a client who owns a Chrysler dealership and they take care of me. Their dealership is 50 miles away from my home and they send a driver with a car to my house and pick up my cars whenever I need something done. If it weren't for them, I'd have purchased other vehicles for sure. I've had nothing but problems with warranty service on my previous chrysler vehicles (I've owned 5 others ).
