Detailing Question

Hi Guys! As some of you may already know, I am now the happy owner of a 2013 Shelby GT500 I absolutely love it!

I have never owned a car with vinyl stripes before and am unsure about the best way to detail it. So far, I haven't had much time to detail it so I just used a cleaner wax and protectant followed by a carnuaba wax on everything except the stripes. Then I hit the stripes and other areas close to and between the stripes with a non-hazing spray wax. It looks good, but it's a pain working around the stripes. I was careful not to touch them, and didn't bother taping them off. Most of the wax and protectant products I use say "avoid vinyl", and my stripes are matte black and I really don't want to mess them up.

Many of the areas between the stripes are small (like between the hood stripes and decklid stripes, the GT500 lettering, and between and around the small stripes on the door panels). I really wish there were a good product I could just spray the whole car with and then just wipe off.

Can someone please advise me of the best way to detail a car with vinyl stripes and give me some suggestions for the best products to use? I don't like the Turtle Wax ICE spray wax, but I had to get something quick just to protect the stripe areas for now. Please help.

Treat them as if they were not there. YOu can get some residual wax build up on the edges of the stripes if they are applied over the clear. A soft bristle toothbrush and vey gentle wiping will remove it. You should be removing your LSD with a quality microfiber (not the walmart-pepboys crap). I would use a high quality 'nuba over a polymer sealant such as Menzerna Powerlock or Blackfire Wet diamond. This will leave approx 6 months protection after the paint is prepped properly.
For periodic maintenance after wash's I highly recommend Prima Hydro spray wax. One of the absolute best out there.

And at ALL costs avoid the carwash.They induce marring. Touchless is a chemical clean that is hard on the LSP.
