Scratch repair pics

I hate to see cars that got keyed, but it happens. This is a job I got in yesterday. The scratch is about 7" long. First thing I did was wet sand it with 3000/ then 2000, then 1500.

I buffed with the high speed using wool, and med cut. Switched to foam yellow fine cut, finial with green pad, speed glaze. Once I brought back the shine from were I sanded, I needed to use my artistic skills. using a fine artist brush, I started out with the factory touch up paint. The trick is to use as little paint as possible to fill in the line. Problem with this job was the touch up paint was too light, so I had to tint it a little darker to blend it in. After I tinted it, the results were to my satisfaction. Customer was pleased also because he saved about $500 for not going to a body shop. Gary

uh, Gary... I can still see the line in the last picture... as if the fill paint still wasn't dark enough. Tthe center of the shot is quite a bit to the left of the others. It's clearly much better than the original scratch, but... still quite noticeable... at least in that pic. Could be accentuated by the flash Isuppose.

In love with my first wife and first car ('68 Charger) ... still have the wife, but now there's the Heritage Edition and a Magnum SRT8!

Keep in mind I shot that under high intenstiy lighting. Under normal conditons it is not as noticable. Keep mind this was a 1989 mini van with 125,000 miles. This might not be the easy fix for every car. Some people with older cars don't want to claim under their insurance, so this fix is ideal for them. I would not suggest this for a new 300c by any means. Just wanted to post options you can do if you desire to. Gary
