Exclamation Cobweb looking scratches on black 300C

I've had my 300C detailed twice since my purchase last year on 8/29 and they start appearing after one handwash. What can I do to not get these appearance deteriorating scratches? What can I do to keep them away? I have been washing my car @ a hand wash carwash in town atleast once a week, sometimes twice. They (carwashes in town) all use powersprayers then brushes with handles and the one I have choosen (best one IMO) uses moist chamois to dry. I've read about sealer and no one that I've yet found (detailers) use sealers and/or clay. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap! I don't even know where to start.....First of all ALL GOOD detailers use sealers and clay. PERIOD! Secondly stop using power washers and whatever crap they use on the ends of those handles.

Chamois isn't a bad idea but I prefer microfiber towels. Microfiber washmits are a must! Claying is a must or you will get scratches.

I would run, not walk, away from where you've been going.

The old adage is true, if you want it done right, do it yourself. As for extreme detailing go to someone who knows what they're doing. If they're not using sealers and clay they don't.

The man you would really want to talk to about this is TURBOMANGT. He does an amazing job on cars. I use to be just like you going to those touchless car wash things and using a chamosis towel afterwords. Now i am switching over and using a microfiber towel and probably going to purchase some products from Turbomangt in the summer. I have been using Meguiars and Mothers supplies but now im going to switch.

Tsb

I don't know if it applies to your vehicle or not, but there is a TSB for "Insect Etching" on all of the Horizontal Panels. It only applies to certain cars, made and delivered during a specific time period. It's worth a look.

One of the major causes for swirl marks and light scratches comes from NOT claying your car. I clay every car I get in my shop, it is the proper method to detail. What is happening is this, contaminants that do not come off during the wash cycle, get rubbed into the finish like sandpaper when you dry. The only way to remove these micro particles is with clay. Another thing, chamois will scratch your finish also. Waffle weave micro fiber towels is the way to go. check and see of the car wash is using mitts (good) or sponges(bad) some places use the same towels over and over on the different cars, and don't change buckets often enough. as you can see their are many ways to harm your finish, education is your best tool. Ok let's see if I understand this:

Keep searching for a Detailer that uses clay, Waffle Weave Micro Fiber towels for washing and drying. The brushes are a no no. The chamois are a no no.
They should be using sealant for better protection (than wax) in keeping these blemishes off the black finish of the 300C.

You heard it right!

The guy who just posted in Gary from that web link I posted previously. I've taken my vehicle to him so I know first hand that he knows what he's talking about.

Go to target and get yourself a sheepskin mitt to wash with and a microfiber drying towel. Use that instead of the brush and chamois. This won't remove your scratches, but will greatly reduce creating new ones. Even with the proper tools, there is no way to avoid the micromarring the finish of a daily driver. Go to detailcity.com and autopia.org and read up on how to maintain a car's finish.

Once you have these swirl marks in the finish they can be removed using something like the Meguiars Swirl remover before waxing or polishing.

Cheers
