Yes, you can use a clay bar multiple times. I believe Gary says four times, or that a clay bar can do a whole car four times. Something like that. That's also assuming you don't drop it. If you do... it's done. Toss it.

Yep... you're right. I've corrected the error.

You can order online from Perfect Auto Finish - Kevin Traver - Auto Detailing. The OP used to own the business, but sold it and they used to be supporting vendors here. Clay is getting pretty expensive these days. It's $15.00 for 100 grams there.

How soon after the car is clayed does it need to be waxed? I don't think I could do clay and wax in a single day.

Sure you can (wash, clay and seal/wax in a single day). Depending on the weather, your work rate and level of dirtiness of the vehicle, a full exterior detailing shouldn't take more than 4-6 hours... and that's going slow.

You can help things along by using Dawn or Simple green wash to take off all the wax to start. The clay won't have to do as much work then. I did this before RT66 and my local guys told me that Black Cherri hasnt looked this good all year.
After I washed the car with Dawn i clayed it then Waxed with Migures #9 and then sealed with Perfect Autos sealer. The car looked incredible.

I just refreshed my membership to this site today, and right off the bat, I got great info regarding the clay bar. I'm going to do it for the first time and this forum was extremely helpful. Thanks!

I'd never used clay on my car till yesterday! I washed it, leathered it off, bought a Meguirs clay kit, 2 pieces of clay, microfibre & cleaner wax, with quik detailer all in one box for $46. Uk £23. As previously mentioned, use lots of quik detailer to lube the clay, kneed it till its soft. flatten it into a pad, and start rubbing it over a small area at a time, I practised on my sisters Audi first.... You can see the dirt rise up onto the paint surface. wiped it off with the microfibre although if its cold you could wait till finished and re wash the car. Then I waxed it with Meguirs NXT, & to finish off the job, Turtle Wax Gloss Finish, And the result ? Stunning real deep, wet look gloss.
the claying isn't hard to do, & my sisters Audi really has improved too, just got to do her whole car now, instead of just the hood!
