Yes, everything turbomangt stated above is very true. Although I may have a FASTER and just effective way on using clay. I have been detailing my car with clay for years. I have done the wash twice before you use the clay bar and then spray quik detail on the area and then swirl your clay bar over that all while lubricating the bar with soap every 5 seconds. So.....I have learned an easier way of taking your water hose and put the nozzle on a light spray mist setting and hold on the spot all while using the clay bar. Its faster, its easier and it is just as effective. Hope this information helps out!!
Turtle Wax has a liquid clay bar in its ICE line. It's clay infused into detailer. It eliminates some steps described by Gary and worked great for me, but don't follow the instructions on the spray bottle - do the entire car before rinsing.
RED SEA
Thanks for bringing back an old thread, but Gary has retired and left the forums. Still very good info in any thread of his you may read... but don't expect him to respond to any questions... he's probably fishin' somewheres...

Used the Griot's Garage clay bar with their proprietary Speed Shine last fall, after 12K on the 06 CSRT8 Brilliant black. I thought mine was very clean, an 06 that sat at the dealer for six months until I bought it. Was I wrong! The clay bar made the metallic black 2 or 3 shades blacker! Then sealed the paint with Griot's paint sealant and made it concour's condition. A duster keeps it in shape, with about 3 or 4 wheel washings to clean brake dust between car washings. The Chrysler's garaged, which helps. Any brand clay bar needs a very fine lubricant and KEEP THE SURFACE WET or you will imbed surface dirt.
