washing

I just ran BC thou a touchless carwash. It's 28 degrees out the water frozze. I took it straight home and put her in her garage. I turnes on the porto heater.

My Question is will the frozen water hurt thr paint job as long as i let it melt on its own?

I am w/o a garage and am too lazy to take a cover on and off day after day.
I have washed my car several times because of the snow/salt while the temp was below freezing. We had a couple of clear days between the snow and the paint has held up well.

As for now I will take it to the touchless and handwash bays.

Before winter I had the custom shop where TommyZ works detail her for me. Since then I've done it myself(simple wash)

When the weather gets better I'll take the C back and have the experts have at her again.

Eric, tonight it will be -28 degrees here. I run mine through touchless all the time just to get the salt off. Water freezing on the paint does not seem to hurt it. Just don't try to chip it off.

Just an FYI - don't use any type of warmed water. Better to leave the salt & dirt on the car. Any rapid change in temp from those low figures may cause paint fractures (spidercracking).

What I do on mine is I wipe the grill & chrome with CRC 6-56 to prevent pitting from the salt.

Sorry, this paint will not cause paint fractures if you use warm water, as a matter of fact our car washes use hot water with no problems. Most or maybe all car washes close when the temp gets to a certain level. The major problem you will have is getting your doors open if the water freezes, but don't worry about the paint.

Frozen water won't hurt the paint anymore than snow and ice. Mine is filthy and will get washed tomorrow, I don't worry about salt on modern galvanized or aluminum cars. I paid too much not to drive it.Will give a nice zaino treatment in the spring.

Will the CRC 6-56 prevent pitting on the aluminum clad wheels?

I didnt plan on not driving it. I just wish we they didnt use so much salt it crazy around here with it. I put some protectant on the wheels on the Dec 31 when it was 60 out so im not worried about that to much.

I am with you on the salt, same here in Ohio. My Citroen stayed in the garage from the first snow until Spring.
