luvalava, I do have Mr. clean, and it does work great, but I think it's expensive. When you wash your ride weekly (sometimes 2x), the soap and filters don't last long and they aren't cheap.
Also, because it's makes the water sheen/sheet off, I can't tell if my wax is still strong or not.

I think the filters are about $4.00 here in Canada, and good for 10 washes. At 40 cents a wash thats cheap to me. I should have mentioned I just use the rinse feature, I dont use their soap its expensive and goes through the gun like s#it through a goose .

I agree 100%.. At first I thought it did not work, I should have read the instructions first. First time using it I did it out in the sun (mistake). As long as you use it in a cool shaded area you will be OK..

I tried the leaf blower theory this past weekend and it does work okay. (Note to self use the extension cord next week :o).

I have a bit of a compromise, the Autovac with detachable blower. Guess what I am going to check out in the stores this week??

A decent synthetic chamois followed with a soft cotton (microfiber will work but isn't any better than cotton) towel is what I find works best. There is NO chamois, or microfiber towel that I have found that will dry 100% once it gets saturated and you have to wring it out. Everything leaves beads. So use a good clean synthetic chamois or even natural chamois of your choice, but keep a big soft bath towel over your shoulder, and lightly buff the area once you have the area mostly dry. One towel will do the entire car and this eliminates streaks too.

I don't think it has been brought up but I don't like "blade" type dryers. I have never been to a demonstration of a squeege blade device that didn't have the demo surface full of spider webs. One tiny bit of dirt on the blade and you have a big problem, plus you can't get to problem areas around emblems, corners ever with a blade, so you still have to have a chamois or towel in reserve. Just save the blade for your shower stall in the house.

So I also have been using the leaf blower to dry the car. Nice to see others use the same approach although I'm sure my neighbours think I'm nuts and OCD.

Tip, keep the blower high as you tend to blow up dust from the floor when you go low on the car tires.

I live at an apartment so I can't wash it at home, I have to use carwashes. I use a California Car Blade. It's a rubber like squeegee and it works great you just have to make sure its clean before you wipe it on your car. I also use a micro fiber cloth.
