Question Chrome Polisher?

I've had my 300C only a year and I'm noticing a "brownish" film developing in the crevices of my rims that I can't seem to remove. I've assumed that this is brake dust build-up. Does anyone know of a good polisher/cleaner to remove this while not degrading the chrome? Thanks!

When I bought my chrome rims, They were shipped across country from Cali to NC, and had a couple little rust spots on them, probably from some water getting in there from shipping. The day I put them on I used Mothers chrome polish on the entire wheel, and the rust dissappeared with a little elbow grease. Should work for you. If not, use the same polish but use the Mothers polishing ball (pic in the link). The pic is the large one, but there's a small one for small areas such as rims. Regular thorough cleaning will prevent any build up like what you have from happening. When I went to Iraq a few years ago for 6 months, my wife didn't detail her chrome rims, so I had to do a lot of work on them when I got back. I didn't completely fix them, but helped them look better. Good luck!

I assume you mean on your OEM rims? Many folks have had this problem, and it won't polish off, it's not brake dust
Are they original equipment? If so, search for "wheel pitting" .... many threads available

Try this. This has worked very well in the past for me. Armor-all rim cleaner to be used first, sprayed and left one for a few minutes, and hosed off. Be a good idea to wash the wheel first. 2nd, there's an industrial cleaner safe for chrome that can be purchased at kitchen supply stores and probably elsewhere as restaurants use it called Peak's Polish. I used this on my chrome rims for a Intrepid ES I used to have and worked great. Never had to use it again. Check to make sure the polish you buy is safe for chrome-dipped rims.

Hope this helps.

^^^Good info above, but I would suggest using automotive specific products. There certainly are a lot of good ones. I got some freebie Chrome wheel cleaner from Meguiars that did a great job and then polished these up with Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish on a Mother's mini-ball with a drill.

Chrome Polish

This is what I use on chrome, aluminum, and stainless steel. I use it to keep a mirror finish on my motorcycle's polished frame. But it is a awesome product! You sometimes find it at you local bike shops or online at AG Russell knives. Polishing -- A. G. Russell Knives

my `06 came with some spray cleaner from mopar in the glove box. Used it once and threw it away... worst stuff I've ever used.

I now use Meguire's chrome polish, works great.

OEM chrome is PLASTICHROME, you can not use Aluminum or metal cleaners on PLASTICHROME or you will have serious issues with deformity and scratches.

this includes the OEM wheels that are chrome clad.

this is the best thing to use to polish and shine plastic-chrome without damaging it:

1fastsedan, are those chromed factory rims or the replicas! Those look absolutely amazing! Guys, my concern is: Aren't the factory CHSRT8 rims clearcoated?? If so, does it make any sense to use a meatl polish at all unless that clearcoat is removed? I can see why windex & pledge would work in this case. Ever try 409 though for glass/metal? Can't buy it here, but at target in the states this stuff id great. Safe for all metals as well.
