hi

well its always easier for the tinter to go around the brake light instead of craming the film in between. if you remove the third break light you gonna have light shine thru. your better off getting it replaced all one piece.
i am a tinter and clear bra guy. So i do know what you are talking about.

This is your lucky day! Your same question was recently posted by NotYet and he ended up with some great instructions and how-to pics. And, he finally has on his tint!

When I had my "C" and Dad's SRT8 tinted, the guy asked me which way I wanted it done; he said the normally would remove the 3rd brake light and tint the whole window or they could go around it so as not to lessen its visibility. Well after having had 3 cars hit from behind (2 of them totalled) the LAST thing I was gonna do was do anything that would cause a driver who may not be paying full attention to not notice my brake lights. I insisted that they go around the brake light. To make it less visible kind of defeats its purpose doesn't it? Same for tinted tail lights; they look awesome but you're asking for trouble if you do that. If someone does rear end your car they could claim that they didn't see your brake lights in time since they were tinted; and it would be a hard claim to dispute.

I paid an extra $25 for the extra labor to tint behind the brake light. Worth it

At first removing the brake light seems impossible. But w/ the pics posted by Simans and others...ITS SUPER EASY. I highly recommend removing the light before tinting!!! Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Hye slim. What exactly are you confused about? What BigDaddy was referring to is the rear windshield. Some people (myself included) don't like the look of tint covering the entire rear windshield except where the 3rd brake light is. For most installers, its a pain in the rear to remove and the time it takes them to remove it is money down the drain for them. So most places won't take the time to remove the light and they will simply cut the tint around the brakelight. Not a super big deal, but when you look at the car from the outside, you'll see a nice black windshield and then *BAM* you see a bright red brake light staring you in the face. hehe

Let me know if you need any assistance figuring out how to remove the side seat bolsters or any of the other parts. Good luck.
