Sticky film under the hood

New owner here (1 week and lovin the srt8) I bought my car "off the lot" and the dealer had already done the complete "PROTECTOR" package (which I refused to pay for) this includes the paint shield, interior shield, sound shield, and under coating, I think when they applied (sprayed) this package some of this "stuff" got up in the engine compartment and I can't seem to remove it, anyone had the same issue ? How did you get it off without damaging any of the factory finishes.

You know I have seen MANY occassions where they were sloppy when spraying on the rust protector stuff. and you are right its stubborn to remove, the idea that carman45 said is a good one.

I just cleaned my car this weekend and both shock towers were totally covered! I used paint thinner/varsol to get it off. The undercoat was that yellow wax stuff and was had to get off. The paint thinner/varsol was the only thing that worked for me.

That sounds like the stuff (yellow wax, sticky) and it is all over the shock towers.

That stuff is so nasty!! One of my first cars had that crap sprayed under it and then I needed to have some work done on the tranny. It was so caked on that it took the dudes like all day to clean it off so they could get at the bolts and stuff needed to work on my ride. They charged me a nice dime for that mess. Good luck getting it off.

Smokin I hope the info on removing that mess helps you. I'm sorry to hear that you even have to deal with it. Keep us updated as to what worked on removing it, it may help a member down the road who has to deal with the same issue. I hope the goo gone or WD-40 works well for you.
