What to use to clean inside rims?

This weekend was my first wash of the beast and was wondering what everyone uses to clean all the break dust etc in between the stock rims? It's a tight squeeze and I was basically just holding a hose in there while wiping away most of the dirt. Not the best technique but it did the job. Only problem was I could not get my hand all the way through to clean deep inside the rim.

Also - what about the water left on the rims, brakes etc? Should I worry about rust?????

WOW..take off the wheels? Don't want to go to that extreme just to get to the inside of rim. Not so much worried about water spots, but more concerned about rust on the brakes.

brake rust will rub off. i always use a degreaser or son of a gun cleaner to loosen the grime/brake dust off the wheels, then spray her off with a hose and dry it with a rag.

cnote - that sound like a plan. I'll just spray some son of a gun inside the rim to loosen it up and then hose it down. This will not ruin the clear coat finish on the rim correct? I will obviously not spray it directly on the rim, but rather try to spray inside toward the back parts.

Best wheel cleaner for the $$ that I've used is the green Ultimate Wheel Cleaner of Gary Kouba. You can check it out at Perfect Auto Finish. You can use a flexible bottle-type brush to get it in behind the rims... breaks up the dust crud and then you can rinse it all away.

I put in an order for my supplies last week for Gary but I think I skipped out on the wheel cleaner. Good ideal on flexible bottle/brush to get in between spokes of rim. Any ideas of where to get one of these?

Autozone is your friend... or just any "soft" such brush you can find at Lowes or Home Depot, etc.

I use a wool mitt with soapy water for my rims, one side of it for the outside chrome part, and the other side for the inside of the rims. Being 22's with wide gaps in between the spokes, I can reach my hand in there and clean them, which I do everytime I wash the car!!
