purple power degreaser

I picked up some of this stuff today while at Walmart but now am a bit hesitant to use. I wanted to use this to spray in between my rims to get all the grim, brake dust, tar etc off the inner most part of the rim.

Do you think I will be ok and not mess up the aluminum rims? It says safe to use on engine...non abrasive, non flamable. So I am thinking it might be ok for the inner most parts of the rims along with some soap and water....any thoughts anyone?

that's what I plan on doing. I only plan on using once a month or so whenever the grime deep down inside the dish gets bad. I figure I was going to spray a small amount in the inner most part and see what happens??? Ugghhh

today i cleaned the inside of my rims for the first time since ownership (nine months). one by one i removed each wheel, sprayed some simple green, let it soak for about 3 minutes, scrubbed with a soft bristle brush and rinsed. they were not "off the line" spotless, but they were clean. took about an hour to unmount/clean/remount/torque all four tires (15 minutes per tire). being my first time to do this, i'm sure i can get this done quicker next time.

If you are talking about Castrol SuperClean, then be VERY careful where
you spray it!!

It will instantly take ALL the wax off of whatever it touches, and it can
ruin some aluminum parts by oxidizing them.

This stuff is NOT recommended for painted parts unless you thin it out with
water before you spray it.

It is easily the best degreaser you can buy, and it will break up even the
toughest grease very very quickly.

I first bought it to clean my old 1985 Jeep CJ-7's engine and surrounding
engine compartment.

I sprayed my engine with some water, and then the degreaser.

I left it on for about 5 minutes, and hosed it off.

I can say that the engine looked almost brand new, and almost all the
grease and oil was gone!!

However, the overspray got on my fenders, and the drips ran down the sides
of the fenders, and left marks that to this day, 3 years later, you can still
see!!

Be very, very careful with this stuff.

Oh, and if you get it on your bare skin, like say on your hands, it will
instantly remove all the natural oils in your skin, and dry it out!! How
bad will it dry it out? Well, if you don't put some kind of lotion back on your
skin when your done, your skin will be all kinds of flakey and cracked!

Jim

I wouldn't use it, but if you decide to use it, make sure your wheels are cool and not hot. Mix the solution with water and don't leave it on for more than a couple of minutes.
