The $800 Paint Seal

Now that people are more informed with the internet around, dealers are having a tough time making money on the price of the cars, so they target after market items to bring in revenue. One of the most profitable services they sell is the paint seal. Since I'm in the buniness I have to stay posted on what dealers are doing. In my area I have seen prices anywhere from $600-$1200 to paint seal a vehicle. This is outragious. The only thing I can think of is that the average consumer is not educated. When I teach an auto detailing class, I try to inform and educate people the best I can. Is a Paint Seal a better application for your finish? absolutely. Is it worth $1,000? absolutely NOT! I charge $150 to paint seal a new car, which is fair for the time it takes (Wash/clay/wash again/deep clean/polish/ then seal) But what people really love is the fact I sell the same paint sealant I use for 10 bucks to people all over the globe and instruct them how to do it themselves and save BIG BUCKS. I love this business, and get great satisfaction helping people take care of their car. Gary

I am a Zaino guy and placed my order for your sealent a few days ago, I still plan to gloss with Zaino gloss enhancer after each wash. As we have discussed before IMO clay is the most important step in the process for a great shine, if the car is not clean it won't shine and the grime is ground into the paint. Clay solves these issues.

Gary- This may have been discussed before but how long does your paint sealer last?

Last year I tried Zaino for the first time. My car is 11 years old (shame on me....longest I've ever had a car) and before I applied the Zaino, it was suggested to me by Zaino that I use a 3M product called "Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored Cars #39009."

Well, I used the 3M product, then washed the car, and applied three coats of Zaino over the next two days. The 3M product was most impressive. What it did was darken my paint as well as removed any swirl marks. And the Zaino really made it shine.

I received several compliments on the condition of the car. Can you imagine what it's like to be driving around in an 11 year old vehicle and actually have people looking at it? I just laughed to myself.

This spring I'm going to detail my wife's new minivan with your products. The Zaino lasted five months and I'm guessing that your paint sealer would last at least this long?

I suggest reaplying my sealant every 6 months. I have a product called poly spray which has some of the polymers in it that are in my sealant. For perfectionists that require the best resuolts all the time, use the poly spray once a month, it takes 10 minutes to do the entire car. Goes on like a spray wax, but much higher quality. Remember to shake it well, its a two part solution.Chuck, 3m makes nice products, glad you were able to remove swirls by hand, most of the time you need a machine to do that. Gary

Gary, you are the best. I love doing detailing. I have learned so much from this forum and especially from you.

When I come back from Mexico, I'll call you, order some product and pick your brains for more tips to revitalize my black beauty from the winter ravages.
