DIY --- scatches and nicks??

To our experts...
I know many of us have some minute scatches and small nicks.
You can really see them on the BB.

I was wondering what is the best way to get rid of these as a DIY or should I have a professional do this at least for the first go around?

Thanks

On daily drivers, scratches and nicks are a common thing. Here is what can be done. I will highlight each separatly.
Scratches/ as a rule if you can feel the scratch with you finger nail, it has gone through the clear coat. These are serious scratches. what I do is wet sand them ( don't try this yourself) and buff with several types of compounds and polish. It will improve how it looks, but it won't be perfect. Minor scratches will come out nicely with the above procedure. again, for the novice, the best you can do is fill in some minor blemishes with glaze or polish. The only way to "level the paint" or remove them is with a buffer.
Nicks, paint chip touch ups can be done by anyone with a steady hand and some patience. First mistake people do is they use that brush that comes with the bottle. FORGET IT! get yourself some artist brushes at a craft store (they are cheap) and use the less is best method. This will elliminate the possibility of getting a "blob" of paint on your nick. pour some paint on a piece of cardboard, have some laquer thinner on hand. Dab the brush in the thinner, dab dry ( you will still have some thinner in the brush to thin the paint a little.) then go to the paint, get a little on the brush, then touch the nick. then go to the thinner again and repeat the process as needed.
