Major Problem

I was over @ my moms last weekend & parked under a train. Anyway when i got my car back from the shop today & went to clean it i noticed it had tar all over it & on the front right door i got a long line that looks like if the car was burned or the paint went away. Anyway i wish i had a digi cam right about now to show you guys but it doesnt seem like this can come out. Should i take it to a Chrysler dealer & see what they can do ? or should i just find a detail shop & take it there.

First, I'd wash the car - by hand. Then I'd take tar remover and see if I am able to remove the stuff. I'd also try mineral spirits. Whatever was left over, I'd use claybar on. If that didn't do it, I'd take it to a professional detailer. If it did work, I'd go over the car with Klasse All-In-One, which is a cleaner-polish, and then finish with Klasse Sealant Glaze.

Because thats the only parking where my mother lives. I parked there plenty of other times & never saw anything like this. I think they was fixing the tracks or something that weekend.

Also i'm just gonna goto a detail shop & have them look at it first. One time i took a rental car for a car wash which had tar on it & one of the guys there had this product that took it right out.

Get some clay man!!!!, avoid any cleaning chemicals. There are several threads detailing the use of clay, it can work miracles but it can't resurrect dead paint. Clay!!!, you can get it at Autozone or elsewhere, I use original Clay Magic with it's supplied sprayer, it is supurb.

Use a clay bar and good lubricant. This should help take most if not all the tar away. Hopefully you had some wax on the car.

Follow CottyGee's advice. A clay bar and Klasse AIO & sealant glaze will have it back to looking new. When mine was delivered it had paint specks, rail dust and what looked like tree sap on my hood. The clay bar and Klasse products removed everything. After doing this, if the chemicals that dripped on your car damaged the paint you can take it to a shop and have it touched up if needed.

Tar removing is a time consuming job, I get it in all the time. Don't use a clay bar in the initial treatment, as that will only clog up the clay and cause more problems. Over the counter tar remover in not that effective, but you could try it. Any solvent based cleaner will break down the tar. My paint cleaner and sealer would be a good choice to follow up with, as they will leave a superior barrier (and shine) on the surface. I have won over many Klasse and Zaino fans over due to the quality and ease of use of the product. Gary
