Mother's Clay Bar

I don't mind publicly bitchin' when product or company falls short of what is advertised. In this case, I must give massive props to and highly recomend Mother's Clay Bar. Dude, it's freakin magic and for 15 bucks, I dang near have a brand new paint job. I had massive overspray here and there, some left by me and some by a body shop. Every particle is gone now. Every blemish short of a scratch is now gone. I was amazed.

Get it. Even if you think your paint is in groovy condition, this will make it better.

Gonna wax it tomorrow and take a picture.

Dang, this stuff rocks.

I have not used Mothers but I think most detailing clays will work wonders as you describe. Clay is a must before any waxing otherwise all those stuck on particles will be ground into the finish.

I have never clayed a car before until last Thurs. and I was amazed how easy it was although it took me an hour and I almost dropped it a couple of times because I did not have enough spray laid down. It came out nice and smooth and then the sealant made the car gleem. I may put on a couple of more layers on my next days off.

I am still laughing at your quote at the bottom of your post!!!!!!

When shopping for clay be aware that their are two different kinds and many different grades. YOu have the standard clay, and synthetic clay. most companies will color code the bar for what degree of aggressivness it has. Red is usually most agressive, blue the least in the standard clay. Synthetic clay, grey is mild, purple is Med. since their is no standard check with each company to find out what bar fits your needs. I have been preaching about the benefits of claying ever since I opened my business, glad to hear the word is spreading. I turned on a few people at my detailing clinic who never heard of it as well. Yes it is. When the car is shipped, rail dust (particles of the train braking system) will get on the car and can cause rust blooms. Other contaminants from industrial fallout and whatnot can get on the vehicle also.

There's no problem using clay on the windshield. I usually use new clay for the paint, and then after it is used a few times, I'll use it on the glass. The reasoning is that the paint can get scratched by any crap that the clay picks up, but the glass won't. Also, cut the clay up into smaller pieces, that way if you drop it in the dirt, throw it away and use a fresh piece. Do not use dirty clay on the paint.
