Although they make wheel waxes I just use regular car wax. Works well as far as I'm concerned.

the problem with cleaning and caring for your beautiful chrome rims, is many rim cleaners will ruin the chrome if not used correctly. many over the counter cleaning products are acid based, and if left on too long (over 60 seconds many times) or allowed to dry, you're poor rims will be hurtin'

I'd recommend something safe like P21S wheel cleaner gel. the stuff isn't the cheapest, but it's safe for all rims / brake components. Some other companies like Menzerna, Chemical Guys, and Gloss It have come out with similar wheel cleaner gel products as well.
You can use an over the counter wheel cleaner, but carefully follow the directions on it.

to keep them looking good, wipe them down with every wash (use a dedicated wheel towel that doesn't touch your paint) so that the corrosive brake dust doesn't get to sit on the rims too long. you can also wax them using whatever your favorite wax is
