Smile Sequence of Detailing a Car - What is it?

Just trying to find out how to approach detailing a car:
1. Wash (get dirt/grim and old wax off)
2. Clay Bar the Car
3. Wash again to get clay residue off.
4. What? to get minor scratches out and blemishes?
5. Polish or Buff?
6. wax?
7. Sealant coat?
8. Buff?

Chrome Wheels
1. wash
2. dry
3. wax?
4. chrome polish/buff?
5. sealant?
6. buff?

The ? is items I'm not sure..

Can someone make a check list? Then itr can expanded by giving more specific information/deatil about brands, mixtures, technics, etc.

Thanks...

I don't have any answers.
But this site has some good articles and instructions.

Detailing Clay & Pre-wax Cleaning - Autopia.org

Copied from the Link above -
When you're finished claying your car, you should wash it to remove the lubricant film, then go over it with a pre-wax cleaner to finish cleaning the paint. Finally, seal your freshly cleaned paint with your choice of wax or sealant.

In the middle of doing this right now..... lunch break!
1.wash & dry
2.clay (make sure to keep the surface "lubed up" and you shouldn't have any clay residue)
3.pre-wax cleaner (some cleaner wax's come with the clay bar kit i.e. meguiars and mother's)
4.polish
5.wax
6.wax again and again

MM-Japan,
How's the finish of your vehicle, if it's in perfect condition, I dont really think you need to do all those steps. If your finish shows signs of wear and tear then the list that you start would become a project
1.Wash the car 2 bucket step one for the lower part wheel well, wheels and tires front and rear bumpers lower side skirt are second bucket would be for the upper area of your vehicle
2. clay bars are used to remove bonded containmants that you cant see with the eyes but you can feel it end results smooth as a baby's behind using a quick detail as your lubed up, follow directions
3-4 depends on what your finish looks like after the inital cleaning if hairline scratches remains you may have to go with a polish which levels the fine scratches and adds gloss and depth to the paint.
Next seal the deal with a high quality wax

choice of products and equipment are totally up to you mothers of califorina, Meguiars it depends on you
