Either get a new cover or get a company that repairs them. While having the cloth seats in 2 of our vehicles( company) spot fixed, the guy also repaired a hole in another managers LSC. The repair came out pretty damn good. It's held up for 2 years so far

Yea, I was thinking of going for the KATZKIN and found one place that sells them here in Japan but It's far away and I didn't see what the price would be to redo all the seats. I sent an email to KATZKIN but they never replied back if the have a store here in Japan.

You can see that it was cracked open and not sliced open because the edges of
the crack are jagged. If it was done by something sharp, then the edges would
be alot smoother than that.

Your car is only two years old. You should have a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to
bumper warranty on the car. A defect in the seat should be covered. You might have to try
another dealer to see if they will honor your warranty like your normal dealer should have.

Are you over the milage limit on the warranty? If not, then Chrysler should
fix your seat under your warranty.

Did you buy the car new or used? That is the only other thing that can make
your car not covered. If you are the second owner of the car, and you did not
pay $150 within 30 days of buying the car to transfer over the warranty to your name, then you are out
of luck, and you will have to pay all the out of pocket expences to fix the seat.

There are patch kits that you can buy to fix the seat also.

You will have to take the seat skin off the seat to gain access to the back side of the tear.

Once you do that, the cut can be pulled together, and a leather patch glued on
to give some strength to the damaged area.

Its a cheap fix, and will keep the cut from getting longer until you get a more permanent fix.

Search the internet. You can find the patch kits all over the place.

The only thing that I can think of that might have caused that crack is that someone might have
put alot of pressure on that spot with either their finger or some other small diameter object.

This would cause the leather to strain and rip open.

You see this alot when leather and vinyl seats get old, and worn, and they will start to
get cracks and rips in the material where the major wear spots are.

Thats for the info. I bought the car new but being in Japan Chrysler dealers are not all over the place, I wonder if I can take it to a Dodge Dealer? I'll c if my wife will talk with them.. Otherwise I was thinking of a sheep skin seat cover until I get back to the states at some time in life.

I don't see why you couldn't. Its a mopar product, so it shouldn't be a problem.

But as you said, since its Japan, and they seem to do things different there,
you never know.

The other thing you can try is to call the Chrysler hot line phone number that
should be in the back of your owners manual.

On some rare occations, they have helped people with issues that should have
been covered under warranty that the local dealers were saying were not covered.

Its worth a try if you get nowhere with the Dodge dealer.

The other thing that sucks about your problem is the timing. If it was a year
ago, I bet you would not have had this much trouble with getting it fixed.

But because Chrysler/Dodge are in bankruptsy, its getting harder and harder
to get parts from them for ANY work, let alone warranty work.

I have been reading here on the forum about people waiting for MONTHS for
parts to come in, when it tooks only days or weeks a year ago.

But try the Dodge dealer, and then the Chrysler phone number in your owners manual.

It can't hurt.

Jim

Don't try doing it yourself, it's harder than it sounds. I own a furniture store and we the repair kit for leather, small holes are easy but a tear like that u really should get a pro to take care of it, over here it's only about 80-100 to fix that. I used to work at a dealership too.
