Well, first, I'd download your tune to your computer so you always have a backup of your stock tune.
But I'd also download this mysterious extra car's tune and email it to DS asking what the heck it is and why it would be on a new tuner.
Thing is there were no tunes on there already. I checked and there was nothing. No custom or backups. Just a car registered so its weird. Now in tunes i see backup & last installed (im guessing thats the 91 octane cai i put on) I backed them both up on computer.

Anyways, congrats again. Enjoy it. And although you said earlier that you aren't a pro tuner and won't be changing parameters... let's see how long that lasts. I recommend going to your parameters and changing your shifts from stock to firm - that one little tweak really makes a difference with these sluggish trannys we have./QUOTE]
What does changing shifts to firm do? Also now that I have the 91 Octane CAI tune in, can I simply modify it & update it, or do I need to go back to stock then reapply it with mods?

I can feel the difference in shifting - don't know how to explain it better than just saying the shifts are much more "firm". There is not as much drag in between gears as you throttle through the shifts. It just simply jumps into the next gear more quickly.
And yes, you can modify a tune without completely removing it. Just go through the same procedure you did to tune it and you'll see the option to modify the current tune.

Coo, thx, I will def make that mod. One more thing, I would like to change is the MDS. I wanna get as much performance as I can while maintaining good fuel econo, but with the Borla Extreme exhaust that I have, there is a lot of drone in 4 cyl mode, so I was wondering, if I disable MDS, how badly will my fuel econo be impacted.
Since I changed to the 91 CAI tune, I actually noticed an improvement in mpg so that's a plus, but disabling MDS would prolly lower it again. Do you know by how much? Will it go back to how it was stock, or worse than stock, etc?
Well, disabling MDS certainly won't help mpg obviously, but how much it will hurt is debatable. Many dont believe MDS helps all that much. I think it does. But it really depends on what kind of driving you do, because you'll get the most advantage from the MDS when it's used the most - so a heavy highway driver will see a much bigger difference than a city driver where the MDS doesn't kick in very often.
There is that Mileage Booster tune - I'm still interested in hearing how well that works. I haven't messed with that much.
So I've been reading up on shify firmness, and ppl were saying how it might affect tranny lifespan. I want to increase shift firmness like you said if it would increase performance and still be safe for the tranny, but I don't wanna damage anything. Are there risks associated with making the shifts firm using the tuner?
Also, would removing the speed limit affect anything else, or just that. I was thinking of removing it just for kicks, not that I would ever go anywhere near that fast or anything, but it would just be nice to have it unrestricted.

I've never heard of any negative impact to the tranny. That's not saying it couldn't be true - just that I've never heard that. I started performance mods at about 60K miles and I'm near 100K miles - and I like to drive her hard. I've always had the shifts firmed. Never had an issue personally. Maybe someone with some more tranny knowledge can chime in - I'm certainly no expert on that.
Removing the speed limiter is fine - that's exactly what it does. I set my speed limiter based on my tires. So I know my winter tires are T rated = 118 mph, and my summer tires are W rated = 168 mph. So I just set my limiter below the point at which my tires will blow!

But that's assuming you actually get to those speeds right? Like I still have the stock tires & they will need to be changed soon, but I don't plan on going more than 120 kph or anything, no where near the 195 mph uncapped limit which it is now set to. So simply setting the limit to uncapped won't do anything to ur tires unless u actually drive that fast right?

Haha - I don't get to 168, unfortunately. But I probably set it at 100 for my winter tires and 150 for my summer tires. I've never gone that fast, but at least I know my car will stop me from going any faster. I think the cars come stock limited at 125 or something... and I have been over that. So there are times when it's nice to have the limiter off, but only if your tires can handle the speed. But really, setting it to uncapped won't do anything - except let you keep the pedal down until the wheels fall off. But you'll need quite a runway for that.

Oddly enough mine was capped at 165 mph when I went into the 91 CAI tune settings. Now uncapped its 195 mph.
