As I said... people will disagree.. all I know is that my car was faster at the track with my shift points raised. I am aware and did state that there is no HP gain from it and your running out of your power band well before the shift. If your going to do a 6200 shift then that's going to be too hard on a 5.7 and no gain for sure... if that's your option I say go stock... before my cam and heads my car had a 6k shift point and loved it... yes yes I know it was out of my peak numbers point by that shift but my numbers didn't lie when the track was involved. I accredited it to my next gear I landed in was bang on the power curve as opposed to feeling like I was a little under it with a lower shift point... no idea why and I'm sure I will get told by everyone that it wasn't the case but to me a 13.2 in a pre-cam car was the proof I needed and that was where it stayed.. if its a 6200 or nothing for you... I say nothing is the better option.. you'll just float the valve train.

Rob-you're nuts anyway
I will side with Michael all the way on this one in regards to pretty much a stock 5.7. Make some 1/4 mile runs and see. There is a point of diminishing return as the car falls flat after the over rev.

Damn you Bob! Can't you just agree with the ramblings of a failing mind! lol... I prefer eccentric... On a near stock 5.7 yes I agree it's outside it's power band...but... ahhhh whatever! lol... truthfully for a stockish car yes that's probably more or less where he should be. Is there no 6k shift point on the new revisions on the predator? I stayed with an older revision as I wanted to keep the O2, EGR shut off ability do dads...

Quick way to solve this... cam and some springs and rev that old girl up!

Hehe. Good to see ya around. I keep my old 9vr12 or whatever it's called on my predator. I did have to have HHP unlock the O2 sensor s for inspection. But we digress. Stock points still work best for the 5.7.
I'm thinking of modifying mine and raising the shift points

Yeh I just kept stock shift points & returned rev limiter to stock 6000 as it was. Unfortunately in the In Tune I bought there's only stock, 6200 & 6400 shift points, no 6000.

I'm personally very happy with the 5.26 0-60 time i got simply from the 91 Octane CAI tune. Dunno if i can do better, & I figured sift points might improve that but it seems not so much on a near stock 5.7 (all i have is intake & exhaust). Though Im sure a new set of tires might improve things, & perhaps adjustable springs to lowe it a bit coz AWD is so high off the ground.

There are days I'd love the traction of awd when I'm launching next to an M5... then there are days I'm glad I don't when I see that stance or imagine the fuel mileage punishment you must endure! Lol.. yeah if you could lop an inch or so off you'll be in business! Didn't realize you had to go to 6200rpm for the next step up... that's a little brutal... it will actually slow you down at that point and not gonna be good for it...

As for you Bob... yeah I took a typing class and figured I should put it to use... lol... bit more time lately so I figured I'd see who still plays on these forums! Right done with my short hijack!

It's only a debate if both have valid points( sorry Rob-that was a lob Michael tossed up).
As far as worrying about shift points-work on the launch. With just those mods a C should see ~13.5 at the 1/4. Of course many factors come into play. What you really want to see is 60' times in the 1.9x zone. At the times you can run .1 is worth .2 on the big end.
The EVIC 0-60 is probably not the most accurate tool. My car is a little faster than some C's but....

^ Nice one Bob... your on a roll... a roll off your barstool onto the floor as clearly you've been drinking heavily if you think I have no point! I'm always going to be the devils advocate! lol... may have been launch etc for me but mine did run the quickest 13.27 in the 1/4 with a 6k shift point (Johan Tune/180tstat/hi-flow cats/AH/DR's)... didn't think that was too bad! Now what's all this 1.9 stuff? You don't cut 1.7's Bob? And I think there is something wrong with your evic Bob... has it been drinking too? Hehehehe!

A side note... maybe my car likes to rev better than yours as yours has that silly red line on your rev counter around 5700rpm? I don't have that so clearly that's why mine likes to rev a little more... that MUST be it! lol

Panties in a bunch old friend. Mine are. And I drink on the floor now that I'm older and wiser. DR's would have helped you on that 13.27. Point being stock shift points are really best for almost (key here) stock or very lightly modded 5.7's . Launching as you well know is paramount to good times (remember-we are having fun and hopefully getting some advice out there).
Now- if you wanna run me and see what my stocker can do. PS not to hijack-we gotta talk. I have a vacation condo now in Orlando.
