Stock Thermostat
Although I don’t have the SRT, my 300c stock thermostat did a great job keeping the temperature fairly low considering my recent driving experience.
Going to and from Las Vegas on I-15 from So. Cal. this past week, I made a point to watch the coolant temps. Many who travel this route are very familiar with the final 2 hard climbs up over 4000 ft. that are made through the high Mojave Desert.
The digital temperature reading averaged 208 degrees F. under these conditions:
*Current Weather: 111 - 113 degrees F
*Avg.Speed: 75-80 mph (just keeping up w/ the traffic flow!)
*2 adults and a trunk full of luggage
The highest reading ever was 218 degrees F near the top of Hollaran Pass but that was very short lived. (208 degrees would probably be considered too hot for those using the race track)
Best part of all? ….the fuel averaged 25 mpg on the 8 hour round trip and I returned with more $$ than I left with.
