i'm getting 25MPG ever since I got the aircon fixed, it was 28mpg previously, careful (economy wise) driving ... then again i'm in shithole Malta, even the mars rover curiosity has it easier!

OK, I've managed to improve the mileage a bit.

Changing the thermostat had the biggest effect, a full liter/100km. The temp needle still stays one line under the half-way mark, is this normal?

I also had it custom remapped to 275hp / 620Nm, which also improved the mileage almost a liter/100km.

Changing from heavy 265-wide 22" summer tyres to 235-wide 18" winter tyres also had a significant effect.

Now I'm down to 8.9 liters/100km, which is about 31,7 imperial MPG. I'm happy with that, but compared to others that's still not where it should be.

The next things on my check-list are the oxygen sensors and the air flow meter.

32 mpg really isn't that bad for mixed driving. You are only likely to better it if you do lot of miles on the motorway or have a very light right foot.

The trouble is that this is 95% motorway, and at winter speed limits (50-60MPH)...

Ah! based on my own experience, I'd be expecting high thirties in that case. The winter tyres might still be knocking a couple of mpg off though.

Very interesting, so slowsteaming at 60mph could get 53mpg? Is the mapping modified for economy? Anyone else gets that kind of mpg?

I reset the trips in EVIC once on a motorway and check the mpg at various speeds:
-60mph the best I could get was 43mpg.
-70mph would be ~ 40mpg
-80mph would be ~35mpg

Bought my 2010 srt design one year ago and have never reset the average mpg reading.Currently showing 27.2 mpg, which considering I have only done 4,000 miles of mainly local driving, short journeys,am chuffed with that return.

I usually drive about 10 miles per day mixed traffic and one part is a 50 limit for a couple of miles. I'm getting between 31 and 32 actual and per EVIC. With a heavy right foot get mid 20s. Unmodified 2008 CRD

About what I'm getting with mine although I have the Drakebox2 set at 5 at the moment to see if that makes any difference. If not then I'll try 7...

I reset the trip and mpg every morning and usually it's showing 35.8 mpg by the end of the (average of 300) day. Yesterday with all the heavy rain it was down to 33, must have been extra drag of all the standing water!
The best I've seen was when I'd got 6 hours between dropping at Heathrow and a pick up at Birmingham, I reset mpg and set cruise at 50- result 57mpg or about what my 300k mile e220 does running around town!
The thing that kills my average is sitting parked up with the engine running- tonight I know I'll be parked up near The House for 3 or 4 hours and I'll need engine running to keep warm and battery charged as I'll be watching DVDs on the screen. That and a couple of hours in West End traffic will see average starting with a 2.
