I tend to swap at 3mm. However, the warning gives you a chance to shop around. I paid 162 including fitting etc. for Pirellis last time but when it comes around again I want to look at what Michellin have on offer. I always find they tend to wear better.

If you have 18" wheels, Michelin don't do anything in the 225/60R18 size :-(.

If you are on stock rims you can run 255/55/18 all round this will give you more choices for a tyre, been running this size since the P7's shot up in price some of us are running Hankook Ventus ST RH06 255/55 R18, try Cheap Tyres Discount Tyres Buy Tyres Online & Japanese Import Car Parts Spares Tuning Performance Servicing Accessories for tyres usually cheapest. Been running 255's for a while now no problems with them at all.

A little low....having a laugh (Halford's or National tyres?) 4mm is only half way down from a new tyre!

Legal limit is 1.6mm. I normally change at around 2mm so you still have 50% left

I've changed from the P7's to the Nankang AS1's which are a good tyre but less than half the price. Also putting in new pressure sensors (rubber ones) as the original 2006 ones have corroded away !

4mm should have never been an advisory,we advise when they're between 1.6 and 2mm or if the inner/outer edges are worn,as long as the central 3/4 of the tread is above 1.6mm it's a pass,it's the tread grooves you're suppose to measure not the sipes.I changed my rears a couple of weeks ago,they were down to 2mm but they kept spinning up at the slightest throttle so I changed them.I wouldn't worry about your tyres for a while,they're fine at 4mm

which might be worth a look...

Wouldn't recommend these as:

1. Wrong size
2. Wrong rating should be a W not a H
3. Designed for a SUV /4x4 and not a saloon car. As such the road noise would be intolerable !

Did go to Costco who only do Michelin. They refused to put the Michelin's on for these reasons !
