Thats exaclty how mine died. I noticed it getting warm, radio went, ABS warning lights came on. Died completely

Will phone chrysler tomorrow and see if they can help as a bit of good will. Not holding my breath.

Not good about having to move the engine. Not a DIY job then

Sorry didn't explain very well.

I'm 100 miles away from stafford but I work there from time to time. Was planning on dropping it in and going to work then picking it up again and going home. I did PM you a while ago

But I had no need to go to the customer at the time.

I'll see what Chrysler say if they wont do anything for good will I'll get in touch. Might be a bit far to get to though with no alternator.

how do I get to the hiden volt meter?
If it's just been serviced and the alternator's died from oil contamination and you don't have a splash shield fitted, I would say the servicing dealer should be contributing to the repair cost.

Too much of a coincidence!

I would expect it to be replaced foc as its not long out of warranty, if it has fcsh they would have had plenty of opportunities to fit a splash shield as per the tsb http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB_3...0900308_LE.pdf

I remember checking Dee's oil leak on her CRuD and it was down to the last person that changed the oil filter.....they didn't replace the "O" ring for a new one and it was all flattened,I replaced it and the leak stopped,we get a lot of that were they haven't been bothered to change the "O" ring,Volvo diesel fuel filters are another,we had a Renault diesel in last week, symptoms kept cutting out when flooring it and taking a couple of goes to start, checked the "O" ring and guess what?? yep, crimped and flattened, changed it and no problems in the last week....looks like I got a new customer....lol

Thanks very useful ill take a picture to see if this is fitted.

Chrysler basically said if its out or warranty its out of warranty but they could try a good will claim which might contribute.

However they would need the car to diagnose it themselves and then apply which might take a week or longer and then there is no guarantee.

Right,

Just tried it myself with My DVM

Car engine off reading across battery terminals 12.7V which has been on a conditioner and fully charged.

Car running getting various readings this is obviously an intermittent fault

At idle I am getting 15V/14.5V ish occasionally dropping to 12.0 V thats when the bong happens and battery light comes on dash. A quick rev makes it go away again

This is as good a picture I can get at the moment. It looks and feels clean to me. I can't see evidence myself of an oil spill on it. Perhaps too clean?

Can't see any kind of splash guard which I assume would be above it.

There are two pipes over it which do look very contaminated. these appear to be fuel lines. The fuel filter was also changed.
